The role of civil society in democratic consolidation process of Georgia between 2003 and 2011
Gürsoy, Hazar Ege; Ergun Özbolat, Ayça; Department of Eurasian Studies (2011)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the last phrase of democratization process in Georgia that refers to democratic consolidation period, while focusing on the role of civil society organizations. The main focus area will be post-Rose Revolution period hence, the Rose Revolution that occurred in 2003 is considered as an example of democratic transition and as a nature of successful democratization development, the transition period must be followed by the democratic consolidation process. In order to exami...
Effect of arachidonic acid on specific binding of [H-3]naloxone to opioid receptors
Apaydin, S; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni (2000-01-01)
The effects of arachidonic acid (AA) on binding of [H-3]naloxone to the agonist and antagonist configurations of opioid receptors were investigated in rat brain. Equilibrium binding parameters of the agonist and antagonist configurations of the receptors were evaluated from homologue displacement data in the presence or absence of AA. Addition of AA at a concentration of 0.6 mM (1.5 mu mole/mg of protein) reduced by 22% and 53% the maximal number of binding sites (B-max) respectively in the absence or prese...
The Effects of Attachment Styles, Problem-Solving Skills, and Communication Skills on Relationship Satisfaction
Egeci, I. Sine; Gençöz, Tülin (2011-05-29)
The present study aimed to investigate the effects of being secure or insecure, being an effective or ineffective problem solver, and having effective or ineffective communication skills on different dimensions of relationship satisfaction. The participants of the present study were 142 undergraduate and graduate students with a mean of 21.8 years. Multivariate Analysis of Variance results revealed a significant Attachment Style main effect on dyadic cohesion and dyadic satisfaction, and a significant inter...
Effects of ph on human growth hormone production by pichia pastoris considering the expression levels of regulatory genes
Bayraktar, Eda; Çalık, Pınar; Department of Chemical Engineering (2009)
In this study, the aim was to investigate the effects of pH on therapeutically important protein, recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH), production by Pichia pastoris considering the expression levels of regulatory genes. In this frame, firstly the host microorganism was selected between two different methanol utilization phenotypes of P. pastoris, Mut+ and MutS on media containing glycerol/methanol or sorbitol/methanol. The highest rhGH production, 120 g L-1, and hGH gene expression, 9.84x109 copies mg-1...
