Near-field radiative transfer in spectrally tunable double-layer phonon-polaritonic metamaterials
Didari, Azadeh; Elçioğlu, Elif Begüm; Okutucu Özyurt, Hanife Tuba; Mengüç, M. Pinar (Elsevier BV, 2018-6)
Understanding of near-field radiative transfer is crucial for many advanced applications such as nanoscale energy harvesting, nano-manufacturing, thermal imaging, and radiative cooling. Near-field radiative transfer has been shown to be dependent on the material and morphological characteristics of systems, the gap distances between structures, and their temperatures. Surface interactions of phononic materials in close proximity of each other has led to promising results for novel near-field radiative trans...
Near-field performance analysis of locally-conformal perfectly matched absorbers via Monte Carlo simulations
Ozgun, Ozlem; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (2007-12-10)
In the numerical solution of some boundary value problems by the finite element method (FEM), the unbounded domain must be truncated by an artificial absorbing boundary or layer to have a bounded computational domain. The perfectly matched layer (PML) approach is based on the truncation of the computational domain by a reflectionless artificial layer which absorbs outgoing waves regardless of their frequency and angle of incidence. In this paper, we present the near-field numerical performance analysis of o...
Near-surface topology and flow structure on a delta wing
Yavuz, Mehmet Metin; Rockwell, D (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2004-02-01)
The streamlines, and the corresponding patterns of velocity and vorticity, are characterized on a plane immediately adjacent to the surface of a delta wing using a laser-based technique of high-image-density particle image velocimetry. This technique provides the sequence of instantaneous states, as well as the corresponding time-averaged state, of the near-surface streamline topology and the associated critical points. These topological features are interpreted in terms of patterns of averaged and unsteady...
Near-Field-Based Preconditioning Technique in the Incomplete-Leaf MLFMA for Nonuniformly Discretized Electromagnetic Scattering Problems
Khalichi, Bahram; Ergül, Özgür Salih; Eruirk, Vakur B. (2021-01-01)
© 2021 IEEE.The potential of incomplete tree structures, previously used in the context of the multilevel fast multi pole algorithm, on developing an effective preconditioning technique for multiscale electromagnetic problems is analyzed. The preconditioning technique is based on the sparse near-field matrix constructed by the near-field clustering definition of the incomplete tree structures for multiscale geometries. The proposed preconditioner is applied to solutions of matrix systems obtained via method...
Near-infrared photoluminescence and thermally stimulated current in Cu3Ga5Se9 layered crystals: A comparative study
Hasanlı, Nızamı (2016-07-01)
Near-infrared photoluminescence (PL) and thermally stimulated current (TSC) spectra of Cu3Ga5Se9 layered crystals grown by Bridgman method have been studied in the photon energy region of 1.35-1.46 eV and the temperature range of 15-115 K (PL) and 10-170 K (TSC). An infrared PL band centered at 1.42 eV was revealed at T = 15 K. Radiative transitions from shallow donor level placed at 20 meV to moderately deep acceptor level at 310 meV were suggested to be the reason of the observed PL band. TSC curve of Cu3...
