Potential Energy Surfaces for Rearrangements of Berson Trimethylenemethanes
Bozkaya, Ugur; Özkan, İlker (2012-03-08)
In this research, thermal rearrangements of the Berson trimethylenemethanes (Berson-TMMs) have been investigated by employing density functional theory (DFT) and high-level ab initio methods, such as the complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF), multireference second-order Moller-Plesset perturbation theory (MRMP2), multireference configuration interaction singles and doubles (MRCISD), and coupled-cluster singles and doubles with perturbative triples [CCSD(T)]. In all computations Pople's polari...
Potential Energy Surfaces for Vibrational Structure Calculations from a Multiresolution Adaptive Density-Guided Approach: Implementation and Test Calculations
Sparta, Manuel; Hoyvik, Ida-Marie; Toffolı, Danıele; Christiansen, Ove (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2009-07-30)
A multiresolution procedure to construct potential energy surfaces (PESs) for use in vibrational structure calculations is developed in the framework of the adaptive density-guided approach. The implementation of the method allows the construction of hybrid PESs with different mode-coupling terms calculated with a variety of combinations of electronic structure methods and basis sets. Furthermore, the procedure allows the construction of hybrid PESs that incorporate a variety of contributions and correction...
Kinetics and microstructural analysis of fatigue fracture progress in weld joints of duplex stainless steel grade 2205
Yurtışık, Koray; Gürbüz, Rıza; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2013)
Despite its high efficiency, autogenous keyhole welding technique leads to an excessive δ-ferrite formation in as-welded duplex stainless steels that leads to deterioration of the corrosion properties of the material, as well as its toughness. Developing the hybrid plasma-gas metal arc welding procedure for duplex stainless steels, a narrow gap and single-pass weldment on 11 mm-thick duplex stainless steel (grade 2205) plates has been achieved. Contrary to other keyhole techniques, such as Laser beam weldin...
Potential flow solutions with wakes over an ogive cylinder
Tuncer, İsmail Hakkı (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 1998-05-01)
An incompressible panel code is employed to compute the flow over an ogive cylinder body with an overall length of 7.5 diameter. Flow separation is modeled by vortex wakes attached to the base region and the leeward sides of the cylinder body. The computed surface pressures and integrated normal force and pitching-moment coefficients are found to be in good agreement with the experimental data up to 20-deg incidence. This favorable agreement suggests that the panel codes may be a computationally efficient t...
Loading Behaviours of Nickel, Cobalt and Scandium on Different Types of Resin
Altınsel, Yiğit; Altun, Naci Emre; Topkaya, Yavuz; Atalay, Mustafa Ümit; Kaya, Şerif (2017-06-01)
Importance of laterite nickel ores are increasing day by day because of their nickel, cobalt and scandium contents. Processing operations of laterite ores generally consist of scrubbing, high pressure acid leaching, solution purification, ion exchange chromatography, solvent extraction, precipitation, etc. Due to the high cost of processing operations; maximum amounts of nickel, cobalt and scandium extraction and recovery are essential. Thus, the use of ion...
