A Rayleigh–Ritz Method for Numerical Solutions of Linear Fredholm Integral Equations of the Second Kind
Kaya, Ruşen; Taşeli, Hasan (2022-01-01)
A Rayleigh–Ritz Method is suggested for solving linear Fredholm integral equations of the second kind numerically in a desired accuracy. To test the performance of the present approach, the classical one-dimensional Schrödinger equation -y″(x)+v(x)y(x)=λy(x),x∈(-∞,∞) has been converted into an integral equation. For a regular problem, the unbounded interval is truncated to x∈ [ - ℓ, ℓ] , where ℓ is regarded as a boundary parameter. Then, the resulting integral equation has been solved and the results are co...
A Kalman Filter Based Approach for Light Flicker Evaluation of Power Systems
Kose, Neslihan; Salor, Ozgul; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2009-01-01)
In this paper, a Kalman filtering based approach is proposed to measure the light flicker of the electricity transmission systems. Analytical expressions of the instantaneous light flicker sensation are obtained beginning from a voltage waveform and these expressions are used to obtain a flicker estimation method based on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) flickermeter. In the proposed method, the frequency domain components of the waveform are obtained by Kalman filtering and these compone...

A weak-form spectral Chebyshev technique for nonlinear vibrations of rotating functionally graded beams
Lotfan, Saeed; Dedekoy, Demir; Bediz, Bekir; Ciğeroğlu, Ender (2023-02-01)
This study presents the spectral Chebyshev technique (SCT) for nonlinear vibrations of rotating beams based on a weak formulation. In addition to providing a fast-converging and precise solution for linear vibrations of structures with complex geometry, material, and physics, this method is further advanced to be able to analyze the nonlinear vibration behavior of continuous systems. Rotational motion and material gradation further complicate this nonlinear behavior. Accordingly, the beam is considered to b...
A Non-Galerkin Spatial-Domain Approach for Efficient Calculation of the Dispersion Characteristics of Microstrip Lines
Guedue, Tamer; Alatan, Lale (2008-07-11)
In the analysis of dispersion characteristics of microstrip lines, spectral domain approaches has been preferred as opposed to the spatial domain calculations since the spatial domain Green's functions corresponding to the microstrip structure require the numerical evaluation of inverse Fourier transform integrals which are computationally expensive. However as demonstrated in Bernal, J. et al, (2000), the discrete complex image representation of the spatial domain Greenpsilas functions eliminates the need ...
