ENRICHMENT OF DENITRIFYING ANAEROBIC METHANE OXIDATION (DAMO) AND ANAEROBIC AMMONIUM OXIDATION (ANAMMOX) CO-CULTURE FOR THE TREATMENT OF ANAEROBIC DIGESTER EFFLUENT
Harb, Rayaan; Bayramoğlu, Tuba Hande; Department of Environmental Engineering (2023-1-20)
Recently, the implementation of next-generation biological nutrient removal techniques aimed at recycling nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus while generating energy, producing value-added products and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, in wastewater treatment plants is being emphasized. In this regard, investigating the development and applicability of a DAMO-Anammox co-culture and a novel DAMO-Anammox-Microalgae sequential treatment unit in the treatment of anaerobic digester (AD) effluent was the...
Enrichment and distribution of trace elements in Padhrar, Thar and Kotli coals from Pakistan: Comparison to coals from China with an emphasis on the elements distribution
Munir, Mehr Ahmed Mujtaba; Liu, Guijian; Yousaf, Balal; Ali, Muhammad Ubaid; Abbas, Qumber (2018-02-01)
This paper reports the mineralogical and geochemical compositions of the Padhrar (salt-range), Thar (Block Nos. 3 and 5) and Kotli coals. The coal investigated in this study is lignite to sub-bituminous coal, with a broad range of ash yields, volatile matter content and sulfur contents. The mineralogical characteristic, major and trace elements were determined by X-ray diffraction, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry, respectively. The min...
Enrichment of Bi-Be-Mo-Cd-Pb-Nb-Ga, REEs and Y in the Permian coals of the Huainan Coalfield, Anhui, China
Munir, Mehr Ahmed Mujtaba; Liu, Guijian; Yousaf, Balal; Ali, Muhammad Ubaid; Abbas, Qumber; Ullah, Habib (2018-04-01)
This paper presents new data concerning the geochemistry and distribution of the Bi-Be-Mo-Cd-Pb-Nb-Ga, and REY in the Panyi, Xieqiao, Xinji, Zhuji, and Zhuji Xi coals of the Huainan Coalfield. The results indicate that the Huainan bituminous coals were characterized by medium ash yields and low to medium sulfur contents. The mineral assemblage present in the Huainan coals is mainly made up of quartz, kaolinite, pyrite, and calcite. The minerals, ash yield, sulfur contents, volatile matter contents, Sr/Ba, S...
Enrichment of Scandium Contained in Serpentinite by Attrition Scrubbing Method
Altınsel, Yiğit; Altun, Naci Emre; Topkaya, Yavuz; Atalay, Mustafa Ümit; Şentürk, Bülent (2017-06-01)
Introduction Technological developments and changes in metal market increased the demand for rare earth elements and their importance significantly. In this content, Scandium became substantial as one of the rare earth element, which is commonly used in military, fuel cells and aircraft industry. Geologically, Scandium can be deposited in different formations such as placer deposits and weathered crust elution deposits (ion adsorbed clay deposits). The objective of this study is determining the possibility ...
Enrichment of autotrophic denitrifiers and investigation of their use in bio-desulfurization of ground tire rubber
Çataklı, Tercan; Bayramoğlu, Tuba Hande; Department of Environmental Engineering (2020-10-9)
Many new methods have been developed for the recycling of waste tires. Among these developed methods, bio-desulfurization takes attention with its low energy requirement, selectively breaking S bonds without damaging the rubber main chain and being an environmentally friendly application. This thesis aims to investigate the enrichment and use of sulfur-driven autotrophic denitrifiers for bio-desulphurization of ground tire rubber (GTR). In the first part of the study, sulfur-based autotrophic denitrifiers w...
