Observation of J/psi production by neutrinos in the calorimeter of the CHORUS detector exposed to the CERN SPS wide-band nu (mu) beam is reported. A spectrum-averaged cross section sigma (J/psi) = (6.3 +/- 3.0) x 10(-41) cm(2) is obtained for 20 GeV less than or equal to E-nu less than or equal to 200 GeV. The data are compared with the theoretical model based on the QCD Z-gluon fusion mechanism. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.

Measurements of D-0 production and of decay branching fractions in neutrino-nucleon scattering
Onengut, G; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2005-05-05)
During the years 1994-1997, the emulsion target of the CHORUS detector was exposed to the wide-band neutrino beam of the CERN SPS of 27 GeV average neutrino energy. In total about 100 000 charged-current neutrino interactions were located in the nuclear emulsion target and fully reconstructed. From this sample of events which was based on the data acquired by new automatic scanning systems, 1048 charged-current interactions with a Do in the final state were selected by a pattern recognition program and conf...
Observation of Top Quark Production in Proton-Nucleus Collisions
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2017-12-01)
The first observation of top quark production in proton-nucleus collisions is reported using proton-lead data collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of root(S)(NN) = 8.16 TeV. The measurement is performed using events with exactly one isolated electron or muon candidate and at least four jets. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 174 nb(-1). The significance of the tt signal against the background-only hypothesis is above 5 standard d...
Measurement of topological muonic branching ratios of charmed hadrons produced in neutrino-induced charged-current interactions
Kayis-Topaksu, A; et. al. (2005-10-20)
From 1994 to 1997, the emulsion target of the CHORUS detector was exposed to the wideband neutrino beam of the CERN SPS. In total about 100 000 charged-current neutrino interactions were located in the nuclear emulsion target and fully reconstructed. From this sample of events based on the data acquired by new automatic scanning systems; 2013 charm-decay events were selected by a pattern recognition program. They were confirmed as decays through visual inspection. Based on these events, the effective branch...
Observation of the Higgs boson decay to a pair of tau leptons with the CMS detector
Sirunyan, A.M.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2018-04-01)
A measurement of the H -> tau tau signal strength is performed using events recorded in proton-proton collisions by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016 at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). The H -> tau tau signal is established with a significance of 4.9 standard deviations, to be compared to an expected significance of 4.7 standard deviations. The best fit of the product of the observed H -> tau tau signal production cross section and b...
Measurements of the electron and muon inclusive cross-sections in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2012-02-07)
This Letter presents measurements of the differential cross-sections for inclusive electron and muon production in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV, using data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The muon cross-section is measured as a function of p(T) in the range 4 < p(T) < 100 GeV and within pseudorapidity vertical bar eta vertical bar < 2.5. In addition the electron and muon cross-sections are measured in the range 7 < p(T) < 26 GeV and within vertical bar et...
