A Novel HIS with a Perforated Ground Plane for Miniaturization and Bandwidth Enhancement

Because of the design limitations of conventional high impedance surfaces (HIS), it is not possible to miniaturize the HIS and increase the bandwidth, simultaneously. To overcome this, a novel HIS is proposed with a periodically perforated ground plane. The magnetic flux flowing through the perforations results in an extra inductance which increases the fractional bandwidth and decreases the center frequency.

A New Baseband Equivalent Model for Sense Mode Dynamics and Its Effects on Force-Feedback Controller Design for MEMS Gyroscopes
Eminoglu, Burak; Alper, Said Emre; Akın, Tayfun (2011-10-31)
his paper introduces a new baseband equivalent model for the sense mode dynamics of a MEMS gyroscope providing a more accurate force-feedback controller design applicable to high-performance sensors with a small frequency separation between drive and sense modes. This new baseband equivalent model for sense dynamics correctly models the step response of the system allowing both “true prediction of the system bandwidth”, with an error less than 1%, and “proper control of the transient behavior” such as ringi...
Design of wideband impedance transformers
Demir, S (2003-10-01)
Although design methods of wideband impedance transformers are known, in some cases there can be limitations on implementation. A practical limitation is the availability of the required characteristic impedance levels, particularly in antenna array feed structures.
A Novel Software for Automatic Calibration Factor Measurement of RF Power Sensors
Kizilbey, Oguzhan; Arslan, Murat; Bayrak, Yusuf; Çetinkaya, Anıl; Yugruk, Aydin; Danaci, Erkan (2022-01-01)
In this letter, a software for calibration factor (CF) measurement of radio frequency (RF) power sensors (PS) by using VNA-based direct comparison transfer method (VBDCTM) was developed on C# platform. Measurements were performed between 10 MHz and 18 GHz frequency range. When the calibration factors calculated with conventional CF measurement method and novel software were compared, a maximum difference of 4.56% was found in the 10 MHz - 18 GHz frequency band. Therefore, the automatic CF measurement softwa...
A Novel Practical CP Based Mismatched MMSE Equalization
Balevi, Eren; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (2017-03-22)
Faster than symbol rate (FTSR) sampling is necessary once practical non-adaptive analog front-end filter and excess bandwidth are employed in case of unequally spaced channel taps. Based on this a novel FTSR sampled mismatched minimum mean square error (MMSE) time domain equalization (TDE) is proposed in response to cyclic prefix (CP) based block transmissions. Our results show that the proposed MMSE TDE implementation nearly introduces 3dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) advantage with respect to conventional ...
