The Slope in equality for Lefschetz fibrations
Çengel, Adalet; Korkmaz, Mustafa; Department of Mathematics (2017)
In this thesis, we produce Lefschetz fibrations over the two-sphere which have smaller slope compared to known examples. The study is motivated by a conjecture of Hain saying that every Lefschetz fibration over the two-sphere with slope $lambda_f$ satisfies the slope inequality $4-4/g leq lambda_f$. Monden recently constructed Lefschetz fibrations with slope which violate this lower bound. In the thesis, we establish new examples having slope less than these. The total spaces of our Lefschetz fibrations are...

The Determinants of Original Sin
Arınsoy Memiş, Deniz; Özmen, Erdal; Department of Economics (2012)
Original sin in economy literature is defined as the inability of countries to borrow in domestic currency from abroad (even from local markets with long maturities and fixed-rate). There are two dimensions of the problem, international and domestic. In this thesis, some of theories on determinants of international original sin phenomenon are investigated. The results suggest that absolute size of the economy is a significant determinant of the international original sin. Financial and economic development ...
THE G(B)ASTERISK(B-PI) COUPLING-CONSTANT IN QCD SUM-RULES
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; ILTAN, E; PAK, NK (1995-05-25)
The decay constant for the strong off-shell B* --> B pi decay in the context of QCD sum rules is calculated.
The interval Shapley value: an axiomatization
Gok, S. Z. Alparslan; Branzei, R.; Tijs, S. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2010-06-01)
The Shapley value, one of the most widespread concepts in operations Research applications of cooperative game theory, was defined and axiomatically characterized in different game-theoretic models. Recently much research work has been done in order to extend OR models and methods, in particular cooperative game theory, for situations with interval data. This paper focuses on the Shapley value for cooperative games where the set of players is finite and the coalition values are compact intervals of real num...
