Stabilization of an image based tracking system
Şener, Irmak Ece; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
Vision based tracking systems require high resolution images of the targets. In addition, tracking system will try to hold the tracked objects at the center of field of view of the camera to achieve robust and successful tracking. Such systems are usually placed on a platform which is to be controlled by a gimbal. The main job of the gimbal is to get rid of jitters and/or undesirable vibrations of the image platform. In this thesis, such an image platform together with its gimbal, and its controller will be...
Optimization of overtopping type wave energy converters on existing breakwaters
Sayar, Serim Doğaç; Özyurt Tarakcıoğlu, Gülizar; Department of Civil Engineering (2022-7)
Global electricity generation today relies heavily on fossil fuels. Therefore, the need to create innovative and reliable technologies that can consistently generate clean and renewable electricity is of great importance. Generating electricity from wave energy has great potential although, the methods used to convert wave energy has limited applications in real life. Turkey surrounded by different wave conditions is a candidate for such applications. In the literature, there are various studies in which re...

Renovation of a safety-inspection methodology for river bridges
Yanmaz, Ali Melih; Caner, Alp (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2007-09-21)
River bridges and related infrastructural elements need to be monitored and inspected periodically for deterioration and loss of function due to aging, adverse hydraulic conditions, and chemical attacks. Necessary protective works and related actions should then be implemented to increase safety. Types of items to be inspected would be categorized as structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, and structural material conditions. Requirements for periodic inspections and the ways of handling these activities were d...
Improvement of an Extremely Highly Plastic Expansive Clay with Hydrated Lime and Fly Ash
Unver, Inci Sut; Lav, Musaffa Ayşen; Çokça, Erdal (2021-04-01)
In this study, extremely highly plastic soil samples were collected from clay deposits in the Akyurt district of Ankara (Turkey), near Esenboga Airport. Hydrated lime and fly ash were applied as chemical stabilizers. The clay samples were mixed with a stabilizing agent considering the dry weight (lime content: 1%, 3%, 5%, 7%, and 9%; fly ash content: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%). The engineering properties of the improved soil samples were determined via laboratory tests. The changes in engineering propertie...
