Preparation and characterization of sulfonated polysulfone/titanium dioxide composite membranes for proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Devrim, Yiser; Erkan, Serdar; BAÇ, NURCAN; Eroğlu, İnci (2009-05-01)
In the present study, sulfonated polysulfone (sPS)/titanium dioxide (TiO2) composite membranes for use in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) were investigated. Polysulfone (PS) was sulfonated with trimethylsilyl chlorosulfonate in 1,2 dichloroethane at ambient temperatures. It was shown that the degree of sulfonation is increased with the molar ratio of the sulfonating agent to PS repeat unit. The degree of sulfonation was determined by elemental analysis and H-1 NMR was performed to verify the su...
PREPARATION OF ELECTROSPUN COATED THIN FILM EXTRACTION DEVICES FOR DETERMINATION OF CLINICALLY IMPORTANT ENDOGENOUS COMPOUNDS IN BIO-FLUIDS
TEMEL, Ezgi Rana; Boyacı, Ezel; Department of Chemistry (2022-12-22)
Changes in plasma concentrations of endogenous compounds such as cholesterol and steroid hormones may cause many vital problems threatening human life. Therefore, the development of novel rapid and reliable analytical methods for the quantitative determination of clinically important compounds in biofluids is of great importance. Coated blade spray (CBS), a technique which is based on solid-phase microextraction (SPME), consists of a sword like device which acts as an extractive tool for sampling and sample...
Preparation and characterization of cost effective spray pyrolyzed absorber layer for thin film solar cells
Sankir, Nurdan D.; Aydin, Erkan; Unver, Hulya; Uluer, Ezgi; Parlak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2013-09-01)
In this study, highly (1 1 2) oriented crystalline copper indium disulfide (CuInS2) thin films with high mobility have been deposited via ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. Structural and electrical properties of CuInS2 thin films were examined to utilize them in solar cell applications. Various amounts of precursor solution ranging from 0.25 to 2.02 ml/cm(2) were used to form CuInS2 thin films onto the soda lime glass substrates. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis revealed that all sprayed films were pin...
Preparation and performance analysis of acrylonitrile based nanocomposite membranes for chromium (VI) removal from aqueous solutions
Bozkır, Selçuk; Usanmaz, Ali; Sankır, Mehmet; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2010)
Acrylonitrile were copolymerized with 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and hexyl acrylate via one step emulsion polymerization using ammonium persulfate (initiator), 1-dodecanthiol (chain transfer agent) and DOWFAX 8390 (surfactant) in the presence of water at about 68 0C. Poly (acrylonitrile-2ethylhexyl acrylate) and poly (acrylonitrile-hexyl acrylate) copolymers with three different comonomer composition (8, 12 and 16 molar percent) were prepared. FTIR and 1H-NMR were used in order to clarify the chemical structure ...
