Dynamics of oil price, precious metal prices, and exchange rate
Sarı, Ramazan; Soytaş, Uğur (2010-03-01)
This study examines the co-movements and information transmission among the spot prices of four precious metals (gold. silver, platinum, and palladium), oil price, and the US dollar/euro exchange rate. We find evidence of a weak long-run equilibrium relationship but strong feedbacks in the short run. The spot precious metal markets respond significantly (but temporarily) to a shock in any of the prices of the other metal prices and the exchange rate. Furthermore, we discover some evidence of market overreac...
Dynamics of the trade balance - The Turkish J-curve
Akbostancı Özkazanç, Elif (Informa UK Limited, 2004-09-01)
The J-curve hypothesis suggests a specific pattern for the response of the trade balance to real exchange rate changes; a real depreciation initially worsens the trade balance, but through time the trade balance improves, and thus the response of the trade balance over time generates a tilted J-shape. This study investigates the existence of a J-curve in the Turkish data in the 1987-2000 period by using quarterly data. First, an error correction model is estimated to differentiate between the long-run equil...
Dynamics of sticky information and sticky price models in a New Keynesian DSGE framework
Arslan, M. Murat (Elsevier BV, 2008-11-01)
Recent literature on monetary policy analysis extensively uses the sticky price model of price adjustment in a New Keynesian Macroeconomic framework. This price setting model, however. has been criticized for producing implausible results regarding inflation and output dynamics. This paper examines and compares dynamic responses of the sticky price and sticky information models to a cost-push shock in a New Keynesian DSGE framework. It finds that the sticky information model produces more reasonable dynamic...
Dynamics of transition to a low-carbon economy across Europe
Hızlıok, Sena Setenay; Tanrısever, Oktay Fırat; Department of European Studies (2019)
This thesis aims to examine the dynamics of transition to a low-carbon economy (LCE) across Europe through transition frameworks of European Union (EU), United Kingdom (UK), Germany, Poland and Turkey. Contrary to the general approaches in transition literature which study transitions as almost purely national processes, this thesis suggests that low-carbon transitions are global processes that require international cooperation. Within this scope, the thesis attempts to explore the dynamics of transition to...
