In this study, a morphing wing’s structural properties are examined under the aerodynamic loads. This study is conducted within the scope of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Comission project ‘CHANGE, Combined morpHing Assesment software usiNG flight Envelope data and mission based morphing prototype wing development’ (CHANGE, 2012). For the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis ANSYS Fluent® 14.0 is used as a package program. For the Structural analysis, ANSYS Static Structural® 14.0 packa...

Invigorating Industrial Design Materials and Manufacturing Education
Pedgley, Owaın Francıs (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2010)
Materials and manufacturing are vitally important subjects for industrial designers, being the means by which virtual products are turned to physical reality. Historically materials and manufacturing education has been dominated by engineering approaches, which often are too technical and poorly suited to the human-centred concerns of industrial designers. For example, materials selection for product function/performance is well established, but selection for product expression/personality is underdeveloped...

An inspection system was required in order to eliminate the difficulties which appear during the inspection of the vehicles according to specific criteria at Turkish Custom Border in a short time and effectively. In this thesis, we performed experiments on such a system to obtain the overall performance of its inspection quality. We firstly give with reasons, why the source of beam is selected as X-ray source. The subsystems of the main system are the accelerator subsystem and detector subsystem. Their stru...
Architecture Of Creative Becomings: Sou Fujimoto
Pjesivac, Željka (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2021-6-30)
This study is an investigation of Sou Fujimoto’s architectural work as an example of architecture of creative becomings, above all the becoming nature of architecture. The main hypotheses of the study are: (i) that Sou Fujimoto’s architecture can be supported on the one hand by poststructuralist theory, primarily by Gilles Deleuze’s and Felix Guattari’s studies, and on the other by the Japanese tradition of non-dualistic thinking; and (ii) that Fujimoto’s creative architectural forms inspired by nature are ...
