Influence of warm mix additive on internal structure of dry process crumb rubber modified mixtures
Yucel, Ayhan Oner; Öztürk, Hande Işık; Güler, Murat (2021-09-01)
Performance of asphalt concrete depends highly on its internal structure, which is affected by production temperature, compaction effort and material properties. This study aims to evaluate the internal structure and performance of dry process crumb rubber modified mixtures with warm mix asphalt (WMA) additives. In order to evaluate the effect of WMA additive on these properties, dry process crumb rubber modified WMA mixtures were prepared under different production temperatures applying different compactio...
Influence of slag fineness on the strength and heat evolution of multiple-clinker blended cements
Erdoğan, Sinan Turhan (2017-11-30)
Three clinkers and a blast furnace slag, ground separately, were combined to produce 27 cements. Each cement consisted of 35% fine (similar to 6000 cm(2)/g), 25% intermediate (similar to 4000 cm(2)/g), and 40% coarse (similar to 2500 cm(2)/g) particles. Slag made up the fine or intermediate particles in the blended cements, clinkers making up the remainder. Compressive strength was measured up to 28 d on mortars and heat evolution was investigated up to 48 h using isothermal calorimetry. Portland cements wi...

Influence of rock properties and environmentalconditions on adhesive bond to a thin liner
Öztürk, Hasan (2003-08-26)
Adhesion test results are presented as part of an initial examination of the effect of a variety of intrinsic rock properties and environment conditions that influence the adhesive bond between rock and a thin liner. The liner material used for these tests was Tekflex, provided by FosRoc. Some of the variables examined include: rock strength (tensile/compressive strength) rock mineralogy, rock surface roughness (grain size, fracture/joint roughness), surface contamination (oil or dust), and curing environme...
Influence of Initial Void Ratio on Critical State Behaviour of Poorly Graded Fine Sands
Ekinci, Abdullah; Hanafi, Mohamad; Ferreira, Pedro Miguel Vaz (2020-10-01)
The application of critical state framework depends on the presence of either a unique critical state line (CSL). However, many authors have observed that a transitional behaviour occurs in certain granular intermediate soils in which the fines content and the initial void ratio have a significant effect on the location of this line. This work investigates these effects in poorly graded granular soils as previous studies reported that this type of soil does not exhibit transitional behaviour. Results from t...
