gamma-irradiated poly(tetrafluoroethylene) particle-filled low-density polyethylene. II. UV stability of LDPE in the presence of 2 degrees-PTFE powder and silane coupling agents
Akinay, AE; Tincer, T (Wiley, 1999-10-24)
Ultraviolet (UV) stability of gamma-irradiated poly(tetrafluoroethylene), 2 degrees-PTFE, powder-filled low-density polyethylene (LDPE) was studied in this work. The mechanical and thermal properties of 2 degrees-PTFE powder-filled LDPE were discussed in our previous work (Akinay and Tincer, 1999). It already has been shown that silane coupling agents (SCAs) result in improvements in mechanical properties. The UV stability of these samples was followed by a comparision between strain at break measured after...
gamma-irradiated poly(tetrafluoroethylene) particle-filled low-density polyethylene. I. Effect of silane coupling agents on mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties
Akinay, AE; Tincer, T (Wiley, 1999-10-24)
Poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) scraps were recovered as a filler material for low-density polyethylene (LDPE) after they were degraded by Co-60 gamma-rays under atmospheric conditions to make small-size powder. The powder PTFE, which was called secondary PTFE (2 degrees-PTFE), was melt mixed with LDPE and then extruded to obtain 200 mu m films. The mechanical and thermal properties and also the morphology of the fractured surface of these 2 degrees-PTFE-filled LDPE were studied. It was found that the addi...
A T(c) formula and the isotope effect for strong-coupled superconductors
Tüblek, Aytekin; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Informa UK Limited, 1994-01-01)
In this study we obtain analytically the transition temperature T(c) which is similar to the one due to Allen and Dynes, and the isotope effect. Using the Eliashberg theory that includes both the electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions in superconductors, we calculate the transition temperature T(c) and the coefficient alpha of the isotope effect for a group of superconductors under study.
Investigating Relationship(s) Between Epistemological Beliefs, Argument Quality and Informal Reasoning in the Context of SSI
Uygun, Cansu Başak; Yılmaz Tüzün, Özgül (2022-03-28)
This study focused on investigating the relationship between middle school students’ epistemological beliefs, argument quality and informal reasoning across three different SSI namely space explorations (SPE), genetically modified organisms (GMO) and nuclear power plants (NPP). Correlational design was adopted. Total of 101 students (39 female, 62 male) were constituted the participants. Written arguments were coded based on the Lakatos’ Scientific Research Programmes and SEE-SEP Model. It was found that st...
Investigating 8(th) Grade Students' Perceptions of Constructivist Science Learning Environment
Ozkal, Kudret; Öztekin, Ceren; Çakıroğlu, Jale (2009-07-01)
The present study investigated 8(th) grade students' perceptions of actual and preferred constructivist science learning environments. Data were collected from 1152 students attending public elementary schools in Ankara using the Constructivist Learning Environment survey (CLES). The CLES consists of two forms which are "Actual" and "Preferred". While actual form assesses the current learning environment of the classroom and the preferred form assesses the students' preferences about the learning environmen...
