SEARCHING FOR NEW Z'-BOSONS AND LEPTOQUARKS AT FUTURE E+E--COLLIDERS
Alıyev, Tahmasıb (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 1989-08-20)
A number of superstring theories predict the existence of an extra new Z′-boson and leptoquarks which may possess massess about 1–10 TeV. We investigate in detail possible manifestations of these particles in polarized e+e− beams on future colliders LEP II and CLIC. We calculate cross-sections and various asymmetries of the processes e+e−→µ+µ−, , ūu taking into account contributions of the Z′-boson and leptoquarks. It is shown that the measurement of the total cross-section σ(e+e−→µ+µ−) is the most sensitiv...
Searching for neutral kaons in the ship test beam data
Durhan, Onur; Güler, Ali Murat; Department of Physics (2020-10-14)
The SHiP experiment at the CERN-SPS is proposed to explore the new physics beyond the Standart Model. While delivering intense proton beam from SPS, SHiP combines several detector technologies with dedicated background rejecting systems to discover new particles and interactions. In order to estimate the background yield from muons, a test beam exposure was done, in July, 2018 at CERN. In addition to muons, V0 decays constitute the major background for the SHiP experiment. Among these, neutral kaon dec...
Searching for the root cause of shale well rate variance: Highly variable fracture treatment response
TUĞAN, MURAT FATİH; Weijermars, Ruud (2022-03-01)
This case study highlights that shale wells drilled with tight well spacing in the same landing zone using the same fracture treatment plan, commonly show large variance in well productivity. Searching for the root cause(s) of this variance in performance, we conclude that the factory model - which assumes wells can be engineered in reproducible and identical ways - is not yet feasible in practice. For each well, largely similar fracture treatment schedules result in different fracture half lengths. Also, a...
SEARCHING FOR OVERIONIZED PLASMA IN THE GAMMA-RAY-EMITTING SUPERNOVA REMNANT G349.7+0.2
Ergin, Tülün; Saha, L.; Majumdar, P.; GÖK, FATMA; ERCAN, ENİSE NİHAL (IOP Publishing, 2015-05-10)
G349.7+0.2 is a supernova remnant (SNR) expanding in a dense medium of molecular clouds and interacting with clumps of molecular material emitting gamma-rays. We analyzed the gamma-ray data of the Large Area Telescope on board the Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope and detected G349.7+0.2 in the energy range of 0.2-300 GeV with a significance of similar to 13 sigma, showing no extended morphology. Modeling of the gamma-ray spectrum revealed that the GeV gamma-ray emission dominantly originates from the decay o...
Search for a Small Chromophore with Efficient Singlet Fission: Biradicaloid Heterocycles
Akdağ, Akın; Michl, Josef (2012-09-01)
Of the five small biradicaloid heterocycles whose S-1, S-2, T-1, and T-2 adiabatic excitation energies were examined by the CASPT2/ANO-L-VTZP method, two have been found to meet the state energy criterion for efficient e singlet fission and are recommended to the attention of synthetic chemists and photophysicists.
