Blind and semi-blind channel order estimation in simo systems
Karakütük, Serkan; Tuncer, Temel Engin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2009)
Channel order estimation is an important problem in many fields including signal processing, communications, acoustics, and more. In this thesis, blind channel order estimation problem is considered for single-input, multi-output (SIMO) FIR systems. The problem is to estimate the effective channel order for the SIMO system given only the output samples corrupted by noise. Two new methods for channel order estimation are presented. These methods have several useful features compared to the currently known te...
Tiling of cellular structures into the parts according to the density values of SIMP topology optimization
Özkapıcı Helvacı, Damla; Yaman, Ulaş; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2020-9)
In this thesis, a method is proposed to enhance the performance of the parts optimized by Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method. SIMP is a density-based topology optimization method which basically aims to distribute the material through the part subjected to various loads, boundary conditions and constraints in the optimum way. Thus, the part satisfies an optimization goal without violating the predefined constraints. The most prominent feature of this method is that the densities of the...

SGLC: A Logical Clock Using Succinct Graphs Öz Çizge Gösterimleri ile Bir Mantiksal Saat
Sokoto, Saidu; Onur, Ertan (2022-01-01)
Causal ordering in distributed systems has received much attention over the past four decades and different schemes for capturing causality have been proposed. Despite the fact that event space-time diagrams can be viewed as directed graphs, the few schemes that make use of graphs are obsolete. This is due to the significant cost of maintaining graphs using the standard representation. In this paper, we revisit the use of graphs for keeping track of causal relationships by leveraging on a succinct represent...
SWIM : a new multicast routing algorithm for wireless networks
Akyürek, Alper Sinan; Uysal Bıyıkoğlu, Elif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
In this work, a new multicast routing algorithm for wireless networks is presented. The algorithm, called SWIM (Source-initiated WIreless Multicast), is a depth-optimal multicast tree formation algorithm. SWIM is fully distributed and has an average computational complexity of O(N 2 ). SWIM forms a shared tree from the source(s) to destinations; yet, as a by-product, it creates a multicast mesh structure by maintaining alternative paths at every tree node. This makes SWIM suitable for both ad hoc networks a...
