The multiomics approach by converging diverse omics aspects into a single platform isgetting attention as a new future. The interrelation of different data layers has beenshown to provide multidimensional insights into the biological processes. Through sucha combinatorial approach it becomes much easier to determine the functionalrelationships between different data sets. However, it is a challenging approach dueto differences in experimental design, analytical platform and data size. But theresulting interpretations and findings can help to explore the unseen relationships thathave been hidden on a single platform. Multiomics data integration requires touseseveral statistical approaches. In this presentation, we will discuss the potential issuesof integrating data sets as well as conventional and new statistical approaches includingsupervised and unsupervised statistical techniques.

Considering the role of men in gender agenda setting: conceptual and policy issues
Erturk, Y (2004-01-01)
The international gender equality agenda evolved into one of mainstreaming a gender perspective into all policies and programmes. Within this process, the role of men gained increasing attention in the debates on gender equality. This resulted in the inclusion of 'men's role' as one of the themes of the agenda of the Commission on the Status of Women for the year 2004. While this is another step forward in the global efforts for achieving equality between women and men, its potential risks should not be ove...
Integrated approach for sustainable development of energy, water and environment systems
Krajacic, Goran; Vujanovic, Milan; Duic, Neven; Kılkış, Şiir; Rosen, Marc A.; Al-Nimr, Moh'd Ahmad (2018-03-01)
The Conferences on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) at the beginning of the 21st century have become a significant venue for researchers to meet, and initiate, discuss, share, and disseminate new ideas in various disciplines of sustainable development. In 2002, the first conference was organised in Dubrovnik, Croatia and since then, 10 more successful conferences were realised. Following the success of international conferences in Dubrovnik, the organizing committees...
Challenges of Chinese and European Universities in the Modernization and Global Context
Zayim Kurtay, Merve (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-06-01)
Higher education systems need to increasingly transform in order to face new challenges of society in a modern and global context. Both Europe and China are facing challenges in restructuring their higher education systems and embracing the potential for higher education to deliver innovative teaching and learning as well as social and economic services for a changing society. This paper analyses the challenges to European and Chinese universities today and elaborates on the implications of these challenges...
Indicator-based evaluation of inter-linkages between different sustainable development objectives (INDI-LINK)
Kalaycıoğlu, Hediye Sibel(2006-11-31)
The INDI-LINK project has three main objectives: (1) further improvement of sustainable development indicators (SDI), (2) assessment of interlinkages between the different priorities of the EU SDS and (3) deriving conclusions for future SD policy making. To achieve these objectives, INDI-LINK will develop new concepts and methods and improve data for the calculation of selected 'best-needed' and proxy indicators; test different methods for extending indicator time series through forecasting; review emer...
Challenges of Demographic Pressures and Resource Scarcity on the Political Economy in the Levant & MENA Region
Tür Küçükkaya, Özlem (Uluslararasi Iliskiler Dergisi, 2018-01-01)
This paper aims to analyze the challenges of population growth and resource scarcity in the Arab countries of the Levant. As the region has suffered from ongoing conflicts, civil wars, and political crises, the challenges of population growth and resource scarcity, coupled with environmental challenges has often been overlooked. This paper focuses on the problems associated with a growing population, such as an increased likelihood of unemployment and the emergence of a middle class poor in the region. Coup...
