Limit Margin Prediction For Helicopters Using Long Term Learning Adaptive Neural Networks
Yavrucuk, İlkay (null; 2011-09-13)
In this paper a methodology is presented for estimating helicopter limit margins using real-time learning dynamic models featuring long term (concurrent) learning adaptive neural networks. Limit margin estimations can be used in envelope protection systems of fly-by-wire helicopters. Linear models are compensated with adaptive neural networks to construct adaptive models of relevant aircraft dynamics. A stack of data collected during flight is used to update the network weights. The data stack for learning ...
Path Planning for UAVs for Maximum Information Collection
Ergezer, Halit; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2013-01-01)
Path planning considers the problem of designing the path a vehicle is supposed to follow. Along the designed path the objectives are to maximize the collected information (CI) from desired regions (DR), while avoiding flying over forbidden regions (FR) and reaching the destination. The path planning problem for a single unmanned air vehicle (UAV) is studied with the proposal of novel evolutionary operators: pull-to-desired-region (PTDR), push-from-forbidden-region (PFFR), and pull-to-final-point (PTFP). In...
Mean-Shift Tracking for Surveillance Applications Using Thermal and Visible Band Data Fusion
Beyan, Cigdem; Temizel, Alptekin (2011-04-28)
Separate tracking of objects such as people and the luggages they carry is important for video surveillance applications as it would allow making higher level inferences and timely detection of potential threats. However, this is a challenging problem and in the literature, people and objects they carry are tracked as a single object. In this study, we propose using thermal imagery in addition to the visible band imagery for tracking in indoor applications (such as airports, metro or railway stations). We u...
End control damping algorithm for a stabilized gun turret system for the satisfaction of the collision avoidance requirement
Yerlikaya, Ümit; Balkan, Raif Tuna (2021-09-01)
This paper presents a collision avoidance algorithm for stabilized gun turrets and its real-time implementation. With the help of new collision avoidance algorithm, all types of turrets can be driven more efficiently and safely according to the specified speed, acceleration and jerk limits. Even in situations such as avoiding obstacles, deceleration/acceleration, if the user issues new commands which does not cause a collision, the algorithm starts to apply the new commands providing flexibility to the user...
