Motor imagery EEG signal classification using deep learning for brain computer interfaces
Rezaaei Tabar, Yousef; Halıcı, Uğur; Kalaycıoğlu, Canan; Department of Biomedical Engineering (2017)
In this thesis we proposed a novel method for classification of Motor Imagery (MI) EEG signals based on deep learning. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Stacked Autoencoders (SAE) networks were investigated for MI EEG classification. A new form of input is introduced to combine time, frequency and location information extracted from EEG signal and also a new deep network combining CNN and SAE is proposed in this thesis. In the proposed network, the features that are extracted by CNN are classified thr...
Motor Asymmetry in Elite Fencers
AKPINAR, SELÇUK; Sainburg, Robert L.; Kirazcı, Sadettin; Przybyla, Andrzej (2015-07-01)
The authors previously reported that asymmetrical patterns of hand preference are updated and modified by present sensorimotor conditions. They examined whether participation in long-term training in the upper extremity sport fencing might modify arm selection and performance asymmetries. Eight fencers and eight nonfencers performed reaching movements under 3 experimental conditions: (a) nonchoice right, (b) nonchoice left, and (c) choice, either right or left arm as selected by subject. The nonchoice condi...
Motor skill interventions for young children
Hürmeriç Altunsöz, Irmak (2015-10-01)
This study is a literature review that summarizes the current state of motor skill intervention programs for young children. An electronic search of the EBSCHOhost data bases was conducted. Fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria of the study. In these studies, 659 children between the ages of 3 to 6 years participated in intervention programs, at their schools, designed to improve their fundamental motor skills. Findings indicated that children had developmental delays before the interventions and the ...

Cognitive development of turkish children on the relation of evidentiality and theory of mind
Özoran, Dinçer; Hohenberger, Annette Edeltraud; Department of Cognitive Sciences (2009)
For the first time a representative Theory of Mind (ToM) scale (Wellman & Liu, 2004) has been cast into three different linguistic forms in order to show the impact of evidential markers on ToM understanding. With Turkish children, we studied (i) a control form without explicit evidential markers, as conducted by Bayramoğlu & Hohenberger (2007), (ii) a verbal form with –DI (marking factuality in the past ) and (iii) a verbal form with –MIS (marking hearsay in the past). To predict ToM performance of childre...
