Effect of nickel and titanium substitution on the superconducting properties of YBa2 Cu3 O7-x system

Effect of irradiation damage on the shear strength of Cu-Nb interfaces
MAO, Shimin; Özerinç, Sezer; King, William P.; Averback, Robert S.; Dillon, Shen J. (2014-11-01)
The influence of irradiation-induced damage on the interfacial shear strength of Cu-Nb interfaces was characterized via compression of nanolaminate pillars performed in situ in a transmission electron microscope. Chemical mixing and interfacial roughening during MeV Kr ion irradiation leads to increased interfacial shear strength by as much as 60%, from 0.6 GPa for the as-deposited material to 0.95 GPa for samples irradiated at liquid nitrogen temperature. The increase in interfacial shear strength was most...
Effect of calcium carbonate addition on carbothermic formation of hexagonal boron nitride
ÇAMURLU, HASAN ERDEM; SEVİNÇ, NACİ; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (Elsevier BV, 2008-01-01)
Effect of CaCO3 on formation of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was investigated by holding CaCO3 free and CaCO3 added activated carbon-boric oxide mixtures under nitrogen atmosphere at 1500 degrees C for 30-120 min. Amount of CaCO3 addition was varied in the range of 0-50 wt.% of the initial mixture. Products were characterized by powder X-ray diffractometry, FT-IR analysis, quantitative chemical analysis, scanning electron microscopy and BET specific surface area analysis. It was observed that calcium carb...
Effect of carbonate alkalinity on flotation behavior of quartz
Sayilgan, A; Arol, Ali İhsan (Elsevier BV, 2004-11-19)
Alkalinity is defined as the capacity of a water to neutralize strong acids. In natural waters, this capacity is generally attributable to bases such as HCO3-, CO32 and OH- as well as to species often present in small concentrations such as silicates, borates, ammonia, phosphates and organic bases. Carbonate alkalinity of process waters in mineral processing may change as a result of the seasonal climatic changes, the fresh water source and the amount of recycled process water. Any mineral processing plants...
Effect of Fly Ash Fineness on the Activation of Geopolymer Concrete
Aleessa Alam, Burhan; Yaman, İsmail Özgür (2012-10-05)
In the field of construction materials and particularly in concrete, cement is considered as a key element since it generates a strong and durable material through a simple hydration process. However, for many reasons (mainly economic and environmental) researchers are trying to find a new material that could replace cement or at least part of it as a binding agent in concrete. Regarding this issue, cement replacement materials like fly ash and slag have taken the lead during the last few decades. These mat...
