Size-by size analysis of breakage parameters of cement clinker feed and product samples of an industrial roller press
Camalan, Mahmut; Hoşten, Çetin; Department of Mining Engineering (2012)
The main objective in this study is to compare breakage parameters of narrow size fractions of cement clinker taken from the product end and feed end of industrial-scale high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) in order to assess whether the breakage parameters of clinker broken in HPGR are improved or not. For this purpose, drop weight tests were applied to six narrow size fractions above 3.35 mm, and batch grinding tests were applied to three narrow size fractions below 3.35 mm. It was found that the breakage ...
Thickness-dependent nonlinear absorption behaviors in polycrystalline ZnSe thin films
Karatay, Ahmet; Yaglioglu, H. Gul; Elmali, Ayhan; Parlak, Mehmet; KARAAĞAÇ, Hakan (2012-03-15)
Polycrystalline ZnSe thin films have been deposited with different thicknesses by using sputtering evaporation method. Their nonlinear absorption behaviors were investigated by open aperture Z-scan and pump-probe techniques. Linear absorption measurements show redshift in energy as the film thickness increases. This can be attributed to Urbach tail effect. All films exhibit nonlinear absorption for 65 ps pulse duration at lower input intensities while they exhibit saturable absorption at higher input intens...
Composition-tuned band gap energy and refractive index in GaSxSe1-x layered mixed crystals
IŞIK, MEHMET; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2017-04-01)
Transmission and reflection measurements on GaSxSe1-x mixed crystals (0 <= x <= 1) were carried out in the 400-1000 nm spectral range. Band gap energies of the studied crystals were obtained using the derivative spectra of transmittance and reflectance. The compositional dependence of band gap energy revealed that as sulfur (selenium) composition is increased (decreased) in the mixed crystals, band gap energy increases quadratically from 1.99 eV (GaSe) to 2.55 eV (GaS). Spectral dependencies of refractive i...
Bulk amorphous steel as a coating material: hardfacing application
Çakmak, Hafize; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Mekhrabov, Amdulla O.; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2018)
In the industrial applications, surface modification/treatment techniques give preference to reach the better service life for components which encounter the problem of wear. In practice, worn components either have to be rejected or rebuilt by employing various surface treatment applications which actually do not only improve the wear resistant of the surface, but also it helps preserve against corrosion and oxidation problems at higher temperature. Among these industrial coating & surface treatment applic...
