Investigation of fatigue and creep damage in steam bailer pipes by ultrasonic testing
Tekin, B; Gür, Cemil Hakan; Ankara, OA (1997-09-01)
In this paper, the initial results of the research on detection of fatigue and creep damage in steam boiler pipes of a thermal power plant are presented. An ultrasonic method was preferred since construction, orientation of the damage, geometry and surface condition of the pipe limit the use of other non-destructive testing methods. In order to determine the relative sizes of fatigue cracks, comparison notches were drawn by using the echoes from comparison notches having different opening angles and depths....
Investigation of traps distribution in GaS single crystals by thermally stimulated current measurements
Delice, S.; Isik, M.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2021-04-01)
Thermally stimulated current (TSC) investigations of p-GaS (gallium sulfide) single crystals grown by Bridgman method were achieved by virtue of consecutive experiments carried out at various heating rates in between 0.4 and 1.0 K/s in the temperature range of 10-280 K. One single TSC peak around 148 K and overlapped, incomplete peaks in the end limit temperature of the experiments were observed in the spectrum recorded at constant heating rate of 1.0 K/s. Individual peak was analyzed utilizing curve fittin...

Investigation and comparison of bearing devices used in high-speed railway bridges under earthquake impact
Aşcı, Uğur; Caner, Alp; Department of Earthquake Studies (2019)
This study covers the investigation of behavior and comparison of two bearing types (elastomeric and pot bearings) under earthquake effects. Real earthquake records are used in this study. Earthquake selection is an important process. The plan behind the selection process is to cover the earthquakes with high occurrence rates in real life and to gain more realistic results. Magnitudes of selected earthquakes are 6.0, 6.5 or 7.0. The location assumed at which the effects of earthquakes investigated is 15 to ...
Investigation of defect levels in Bi12SiO20 single crystals by thermally stimulated current measurements
Isik, M.; Delice, S.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2021-12-01)
Bi12SiO20 (BSO) single crystal belongs to the sillenite semiconducting family known as defective compounds. The present paper investigates the defect centers in BSO grown by Czochralski method by means of thermally stimulated current (TSC) measurements performed in the 10-260 K range. The TSC glow curve obtained at heating rate of beta = 0.1 K s(-1) presented several peaks associated with intrinsic defect centers. The activation energies of defect centers were revealed as 0.09, 0.15, 0.18, 0.22, 0.34, 0.70 ...
