Development of non-noble Co–N–C electrocatalyst for high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Eren, Enis Oğuzhan; Özkan, Necati; Devrim, Yılser (Elsevier BV, 2020-11-27)
© 2020 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLCThe development of a non-noble Co–N/MWCNT (MWCNT = multi-walled carbon nanotubes) electrocatalyst is achieved through the high-temperature pyrolysis method and successfully characterized by five-step physico-chemical analysis. By utilizing high-resolution analytical surface characterization methods, the chemical states of elements are determined, and the presence of Co-Nx sites is confirmed. ORR activity of a Co–N/MWCNT is found to be auspicious. The maximum number of ...

Development of highly luminescent and cytocompatible near-IR-emitting aqueous Ag2S quantum dots
Hocaoglu, Ibrahim; Cizmeciyan, M. Natali; ERDEM, Rengin; Özen, Can; KURT, Adnan; Sennaroglu, Alphan; Acar, Havva Yagci (2012-01-01)
Colloidally stable and highly luminescent near-IR emitting Ag2S quantum dots (NIRQDs) were prepared by a very simple aqueous method using 2-mercaptopropionic acid (2MPA) as a coating. Emission of Ag2S-2MPA NIRQDs can be tuned between 780 and 950 nm. These NIRQDs have photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY) around 7-39% and exhibit excellent cytocompatibility even at 600 mu g mL(-1) in NIH/3T3 cells. With such improved properties, Ag2S-2MPA NIRQDs have a great potential in practical bio-applications.
Development of Nanostructured Metallic Glasses with High Toughness
Bagheri Behboud, Ali; Özerinç, Sezer; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2021-8)
Metallic glasses are metallic alloys with disordered atomic structures and desirable mechanical properties such as high hardness, high elastic limits, and wear resistance. These properties make metallic glasses promising materials for wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and biocompatible coating applications. On the other hand, metallic glasses are brittle, which is a major disadvantage for their use in practice. This thesis study aimed to tackle this problem through the development of nanostructured metal...
Development of Non-Invasive and Biocompatible Thin Film Micro-Extraction Contact Lens Type Devices Compatible for In Vivo Metabolomics Investigations from Eye Surface
Nalbant, Atakan Arda; Boyacı, Ezel (2019-09-01)
Solid phase microextraction (SPME), is a sampling and samp- le preparation technique in which the extraction of analytes is based on an equilibrium established between a sample and ext- ractive phase coated on a tip of a fiber. Thin film microextraction (TFME) which is a type of SPME provides high analytical sen- sitivity in environmental and biological samples and has gained interest in areas where no other technique can provide solutions. In this study, the aim was to develop biocompatible and flexib-...
