Electrically controlled terahertz spatial light modulators with graphene arrays
Kakenov, Nurbek; Takan, Taylan; Özkan, Vedat Ali; Balci, Osman; Polat, Emre O.; Altan, Hakan; KOCABAŞ, COŞKUN (2016-05-27)
Gate-tunable high-mobility electrons on atomically thin graphene layers provide a unique opportunity to control electromagnetic waves in a very broad spectrum. In this paper, we describe an electrically-controlled multipixel terahertz light modulators. The spatial light modulator is fabricated using two large-area graphene layers grown by chemical vapor deposition and transferred on THz transparent and flexible substrates. Room temperature ionic liquid, inserted between the graphene, provides mutual gating ...
Electrically conductive polymers from poly(N-vinylimidazole)
Kucukyavuz, Z; Kucukyavuz, S; Abbasnejad, N (1996-07-01)
Poly(N-vinylimidazole) was synthesized by free radical polymerization. It was quaternized with methyl iodide. The samples were doped with iodine and borontrifluoride. Products were characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry techniques. The maximum electrical conductivities achieved were 10(-4) S cm(-1) for BF3-doped and for I-2-doped QPVI. The decrease of electrical conductivity in open atmosphere with time was also studied to understa...
Electrically conductive polymer grafts prepared by electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole onto poly[(methyl methacrylate)-co-(2-(N-pyrrolyl) ethyl methacrylate)] electrodes
Balci, N; Akbulut, Ural; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Stanke, D; Hallensleben, ML (1998-01-01)
Pyrrole was grafted on poly[(methyl methacrylate)-co-(2-(N-pyrrolyl) ethyl methacrylate)] (PMMA-co-PEMA) using constant potential electrolyses. The thermal stability of PMMA-co-PEMA was improved as a result of electrochemical grafting with pyrrole. The electrochemical behavior of the films was studied by cyclic voltammetry. Pyrrole was found to be electroactive on PMMA-co-PEMA electrodes.
ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN FLOWS IN MHD WITH MIXED ELECTROMAGNETIC BOUNDARY-CONDITIONS
Tezer, Münevver; ARIEL, PD (Wiley, 1988-01-01)
Flow of viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid, driven by imposed electric currents has been investigated in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. The boundary perpendicular to the magnetic field is perfectly conducting partly along its length. Three cases have been considered: a) flow in the upper half plane when the boundary to the right of origin is insulating and that to the left is perfectly conducting, b) flow in the upper half plane when a finite length of the boundary is perfe...
Electrically Conducting Fluid Flow and Electric Potential in a Square Cavity Subjected to a Point Magnetic Source
Şenel, Pelin; Tezer, Münevver (2022-01-01)
Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) flow in cavities subjected to both the magnetisation and the Lorentz forces due to a point magnetic source is studied. The governing PDEs are derived and iteratively solved by the dual reciprocity boundary elements method (DRBEM) with linear elements. It is shown that the magnetic field decelerates the axial flow around the point magnetic source, and a further increase in Ha causes a reverse flow in the pipe axis direction. An increase in Re, Ha, or Mn reduces the electric potenti...
