Oxygen plasma modification of polyurethane membranes
Ozdemir, Y; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Serbetci, K (2002-12-01)
Polyurethane membranes were prepared under nitrogen atmosphere by using various proportions of toluene diisocyanates (TDI) and polypropylene-ethylene glycol (P) with addition of no other ingredients such as catalysts, initiator or solvent in order to achieve medical purity. Effects of composition on mechanical properties were examined. In general, modulus and UTS values demonstrated an increase and PSBR demonstrated a decrease as the TDI/Polyol ratio of the polymer increased. Elastic modulus, ultimate tensi...
Oxygen plasma modification of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) film surfaces for tissue engineering purposes
Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat; Tezcaner, Ayşen; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2003-02-22)
Plasma glow-discharge application is known as a technique to coat or modify the surfaces of various materials. In this study, the influence of oxygen rf-plasma treatment on surface and bulk properties of a biological polyester, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), were studied by determining water content and water contact angle, and by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The plasma-treated films absorbed more water than the untreated film, and the a...
Oxygen potential values to produce compacted graphite cast iron
ELMABROUK, O.; Kalkanlı, Ali; SELÇUK, EMRE; ÇETİN, ASUDE (2008-04-01)
Compacted graphite cast iron (CGI) is a potential alternative to lightweight alloys. It is accepted that CGI can effectively reduce the automobile total weight by virtue of its high strength and its high thermal conductivity giving an opportunity to designers to design components with thinner sections. However, the successful casting process to produce this material requires detailed information for the prediction of microstructure and accurate casting process knowledge. In this paper, compacted graphite wi...
Oxygen vacancies on Pd/TiO2 are detected at low pressures by ESR spectroscopy at ambient temperatures
Üner, Deniz; Yarar, Melis (2022-1-01)
All rights reserved.A low field benchtop electron spin resonance (ESR) (also referred to as electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR)) spectrometer is used to reveal paramagnetic centres such as oxygen vacancies and Ti+3 centres over 0.5%Pd/TiO2. The measurement was performed at room temperature after the sample was reduced in situ under mild hydrogen pressures and evacuated to P < 10–6 Torr. The measurement was possible due to a T1 compensation effect under vacuum: Correlation times at low pressures enabled su...
Oxygen adsorption on Pt/TiO2 catalysts
Üner, Deniz; Ozen, I; Uner, M (Elsevier BV, 2003-09-30)
Oxygen adsorption overPt/TiO2 surfaces were investigated as a function of metal loading. Oxygen adsorption over pure TiO2 was molecular at all pressure ranges investigated. On the other hand, differential heats of adsorption measured by adsorption calorimetry indicated that oxygen adsorption was dissociative over Pt/TiO2 surfaces until the Pt surface was saturated with oxygen. The saturation coverage of atomic oxygen on Pt was determined as approximately one from adsorption calorimetry. The initial heat of ...
