Raman scattering in TlInS2xSe2(1-x) layered mixed crystals (0.25 <= x <= 1): Compositional dependence of the mode frequencies and line widths
Güler, Işıkhan; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2011-09-15)
The Raman spectra of TlInS2xSe2(1-x) layered mixed crystals were studied for a wide composition range (0.25 <= x <= 1) in the frequency region 10-360 cm(-1) at room temperature. The shift of Raman-active phonon frequencies versus mixed crystals composition x were established. The effect of crystal disorder on the line width broadening of three high-frequency Raman-active modes is reported.
Raman frequency shifts of an internal mode near the tricritical and second order phase transitions in NH4Cl
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2005-12-01)
This study gives our analysis for the frequency shifts of the nu(2)(1708 cm(-1)) Raman mode in NH4Cl close to its tricritical (P = 1.6 kbar) and second order (P = 2.8 kbar) phase transitions. From our analysis, we extract the values of the critical exponent which describes the critical behavior of the Raman frequency shifts for this internal mode for the pressure conditions studied in NH4Cl. Our exponent value of alpha approximate to 0.2 for the tricritical phase transition is close to the values of 1/16 (T...
Raman dye-labeled nanoparticles probes for DNA studies
Uzun, Ceren; Volkan, Mürvet; Department of Chemistry (2012)
The interaction between nanoscience and biomedicine is one of the important developing areas of modern science. The usage of functional nanoparticles with biological molecules provides sensitive and selective detection, labeling and sensing of biomolecules. Until today, several novel types of tagging materials have been used in bioassays, such as plasmon-resonant particles, quantum dots (QDs), and metal nanoshells. However, nowadays, Surface enhanced raman scattering (SERS) tags have been attracting conside...
