Preliminary investigations on two different procedures to calculate the efficiency and performance ratio of PV modules
Ozden, T.; Akinoglu, B. G. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-09-01)
Short- and long-term outdoor performances of the photovoltaic (PV) modules are extremely important in reaching their economic viabilities. Such information is very valuable for the investors, customers and researchers of PV technologies. Two different procedures are possible, and both are used by many researchers. However, to the best of our knowledge, there is no comparative investigation to evaluate these two procedures. One of the methods uses instantaneous I-V curves of PV modules taken in a specified i...
Preliminary evaluation of a compacted bentonite sand mixture as a landfill liner material
Akgün, Haluk; Aktürk, Özgür (2005-01-01)
This paper investigates the performance of a 10:90 compacted bentonite/ sand liner material through performing flow tests for the isolation of refuse in sanitary landfills. The result of a standard compaction test on a compacted sample is presented. The hydraulic conductivity of the sample, as determined through compaction permeameter testing is equal to 9.95 × 10-10 m/s, which satisfies the regulatory required hydraulic conductivity value for a compacted clayey material. Recommendations for further researc...
Preliminary estimation of rock mass strength using diamond bit drilling operational parameters
BASARIR, H.; Karpuz, Celal (2016-03-03)
In many mining engineering applications such as prospecting, development, production and grouting, diamond bit drilling is widely used due to high penetration rate, core recovery and its ability to drill with less deviation. It has been well known that the operational parameters of diamond bit drilling are closely related with rock mass strength properties. One of the most widely discussed subjects in drilling is the possibility of using diamond drill bit operational parameters for preliminary estimation of...

Preliminary assessment of spray coating, solution-immersion and dip coating to render minerals superhydrophobic
Camalan, Mahmut; Arol, Ali İhsan (2022-01-01)
Achieving hydrophobic surfaces on mineral particles is an active research topic in mineral processing. The conventional technique for achieving good hydrophobicity is to mix mineral particles in solutions of organic salts (surfactants), briefly termed as conditioning. Alternatively, this paper presents three methods (spray coating, dip coating and solution-immersion) to render minerals superhydrophobic. The methods, as supported by the literature, can generate superhydrophobic mineral surfaces with water-re...
