Analysis and testing of a contraction-and-expansion micromixer for micromilled microfluidics
Yıldırım, Ender (2017-10-01)
In this paper, numerical analysis and experimental investigation of a micromixer, which was specifically designed for microfluidic devices fabricated by micromilling, is presented. The mixer is composed of series of contractions and expansions in zigzag arrangement along a mixing channel. Mixers, fabricated by micromilling on polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), were tested with %0.1 Ponceau 4R red food dye solution and distilled water. According to experiment results, over 70% mixing efficiency could be obtained...
Analysis and design of a circularly polarized microstrip antenna
Taştan, Mehmet; Koç, Seyit Sencer; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
In this study we tried to design a microstrip antenna, to get a suitable radiation pattern for a LEO satellite. Our aim is to get a radiation pattern that has a maximum power which is not in the broadside direction to the antenna surface; instead broadside radiation has a relatively lower power density. Maximum power radiation is desired to be at about 30 50 degrees angle beyond the normal to the antenna surface. We desire circularly polarized radiation. We used two concentric antennas; one is a circular p...

Analysis and design of microstrip printed structures on electromagnetic bandgap substrates
Güdü, Tamer; Alatan, Lale; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
In the first part of the thesis, the 2-D structures in stratified media are analyzed using an efficient MoM technique. The method is used to optimize transmitted or reflected electric fields from the 2-D structures. The genetic algorithm is used in the optimization process. In the second part a 3-D MoM technique is implemented to analyze multilayered structures with periodically implanted material blocks. Using the method, the dispersion and reflection characteristics of the structure are calculated for dif...
Analysis and design of passive microwave and optical devices using the multimode interference technique
Sunay, Ahmet Sertaç; Birand, Mehmet Tuncay; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
The Multimode Interference (MMI) mechanism is a powerful toool used in the analysis and design of a certain class of optical, microwave and millimeter wave devices. The principles of the MMI method and the self-imaging principle is described. Using this method, NXM MMI couplers, MMI splitter/combiners are analyzed. Computer simulations for illustrating the "Multimode Interference Mechanism" are carried out. The MMI approach is used to analyze overmoded 'rectangular metallic' and 'dielectric slab' type of wa...
