CONSTRUCTION OF PROTEIN-PROTEIN INTERACTION NETWORKS UNDER STEADY-STATE ACTIVATIONS

CONSTRUCTION OF A QUADRATIC MODEL USING MODIFIED ANGSTROM COEFFICIENTS TO ESTIMATE GLOBAL SOLAR-RADIATION
Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin (Elsevier BV, 1990-01-01)
In this paper, a new correlation for the estimation of monthly average daily global solar radiation will be presented and compared with the correlations of Rietveld, Benson et al., Ögelman et al., and a recent formulation by Gopinathan. The overal results show that the quadratic form gives better performance in terms of global applicability. The new quadratic model should be preferred for the monthly average global solar radiation estimation when the data for bright sunshine hours are available

Development and analysis of grasshopper-like jumping mechanism in biomimetic approach
Konez Eroğlu, Aylin; Akkök, Metin; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2007)
Highly effective and power efficient biological mechanisms are common in nature. The use of biological design principles in engineering domain requires adequate training in both engineering and biological domains. This requires cooperation between biologists and engineers that leads to a new discipline of biomimetic science and engineering. Biomimetic is the abstraction of good design from nature. Because of the fact that biomimetic design has an important place in mechatronic applications, this study is di...
Construction of a patterned hydrogelfibrous mat bilayer structure to mimic choroid and Bruch's membrane layers of retina
Komez, Aylin; Baran, Erkan T.; Erdem, Uzeyir; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2016-09-01)
Deterioration of retina and death of the retinal cells due to age, diabetes, or occlusion can cause retinal degeneration which leads to loss of vision. In this study, it is aimed to design a bilayered matrix to mimic the choroid and the Bruch's membrane of the retinal tissue. As choroid, a microchanneled network resembling a fractal tree design was fabricated by photolithography over photo-cross-linkable methacrylated hyaluronic acid hydrogel. Gelatin or collagen was immobilized into the microchannels to en...
