Accuracy assessment of MODIS daily snow albedo retrievals with in situ measurements in Karasu basin, Turkey

Over the ablation period of 2004, daily snow albedo values retrieved from the moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) Terra were compared with ground-based albedo measurements. Two data sets are used for this study. The first data set is from two automatic weather stations (AWS) located at fixed points in Karasu basin in eastern Turkey. This provided the temporal assessment of MODIS daily snow albedo values. The second data set, consisting of 19 observation points randomly distributed around o...
Accuracy of the two-iteration spectral method for phase change problems
Dursunkaya, Zafer (Elsevier BV, 2006-12-01)
The accuracy of the solution of phase change problems using a spectral method is studied. Two iterations in the expansion are used to obtain the interface location of a solidification problem. in semi-infinite domain. Asymptotic expansion of the current approach is compared to the existing analytical solution of the problem, and the validity of the expansion is studied. The results indicate the accuracy of a numerical application of the current approach to finite and semi-infinite geometries. (c) 2005 Elsev...
Accuracy of the Surface Integral-equation Formulations for Large Negative Permittivity Values
Karaosmanoglu, B.; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2017-05-25)
Computational solutions of plasmonic problems involving metals at optical frequencies formulated with surface integral equations are considered. Numerical inaccuracies arise when using the conventional formulations for penetrable bodies, especially as the negative real permittivity becomes very large at the lower frequencies of the optical spectrum. In order to close the gap between plasmonic and perfectly conducting simulations, it is required to extend the applicability of surface integral equations to in...
