This paper reports the design and fabrication of two type of micromachined capacitıve silicon pressure sensors for industrial and biomedical applications. The dynamic ranges of the sensors designed for industrial applications vary between 0- 50mmHg and 0-1200mmHg. Sensors are batch fabricated usıng silicon micromachıning process and occupies an area of 0.4 x 0.6mm . We have measured 120fF capacitance changes for 0- 200mmHg range över 500fF zero pressure capacitance. The pressure sensor for biomedical applications can be implented in the body and can be monitored telemetrically without using any wire that breaks the skin. This is achieved by using the electroplated coil which is fabricated together with the pressure sensor. This implantable sensor measures 1 5mm x 2.5mm x O.ömm in size and provides a dynamic range of OSOmmHg.

Functionalization and fabrication of polymer based device platform architectures for sensor applications
Söylemez, Saniye; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2018)
In this thesis, two types of sensors: Conjugated polymer based amperometric biosensors and a chemiresistive sensor (polymer/SWCNT) for clinical and food applications were designed, fabricated and characterized. Three chapters in this thesis focused on ethanol, glucose and cholesterol biosensors based on functional polymer/MWCNT composition, different peptide sequence containing polymer, and also copolymer of two different functional monomers, respectively. After successful electrochemical deposition of the ...
Conceptual design and analysis of an industrial type vacuum sweeper
Aygün, Buket; Albayrak, Kahraman; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2009)
In this thesis, design and development and manufacturing processes of an industrial type vacuum sweeper is presented. Thesis is financially supported by Ministry of Industry and Trade-Turkey and Müsan A.Ş. (Makina Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.) under SAN-TEZ project number 00028.STZ.2007-1. It is aimed to make innovative design changes and developments on the Müsan VSM 060 type vacuum sweeper. To achieve this aim, alternative configuration designs are prepared by using commercial 3D modeling program, Catia™...
An artificial neural network estimator design for the inferential model predictive control of an industrial multi-component distillation column
Bahar, Almila; Özgen, Canan; Department of Chemical Engineering (2003)
An inferential control methodology, that utilizes an artificial neural network (ANN) estimator for a model predictive controller, is developed for an industrial multi-component distillation column. In the column, propane and butane is separated from a mixture of propane, n-butane, i-butane, and i-pentane with a top product purity of 96% propane and a bottom product purity of 63% n- butane. Dual composition control of the column must be used in a multivariable model predictive controller for an efficient ope...
Conceptual design, testing and manufacturing of an industrial type electro-hydraulic vacuum sweeper
Şahin, Emre; Albayrak, Kahraman; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2011)
In this thesis, conceptual design, testing, development and manufacturing processes of the cleaning (elevator and fan system) and electro-hydraulic systems of an industrial type vacuum sweeper are presented. Thesis is financially supported by Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology (Turkey) and Müsan A.Ş. (Makina Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.) under the SAN-TEZ projects with numbers 00028.STZ.2007-1 and 00623.STZ.2010-1. The main purpose is to make critical design changes on existing fan system, design...
Development of a resonant mass sensor for MEMS based cell detection applications
Eroğlu, Deniz; Külah, Haluk; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
This thesis reports design and implementation of a MEMS based resonant mass sensor for cell detection applications. The main objective of the thesis is the real-time detection of captured cells inside liquid medium and obtaining the detection results by electronic means, without the aid of any external optical instruments. A new resonant mass sensor architecture is presented that has various advantages over its conventional counterparts. The device oscillates in the lateral direction, eliminating squeeze fi...
