Synthesis of poly (dl-lactic-co-glycolic acid) coated magnetic nanoparticles for anti-cancer drug delivery
Tansık, Gülistan; Gündüz, Ufuk; Department of Biology (2012)
One of the main problems of current cancer chemotherapy is the lack of selectivity of anti-cancer drugs to tumor cells which leads to systemic toxicity and adverse side effects. In order to overcome these limitations, researches on controlled drug delivery systems have gained much attention. Nanoscale based drug delivery systems provide tumor targeting. Among many types of nanocarriers, superparamagnetic nanoparticles with their biocompatible polymer coatings can be targeted to an intented site by an extern...
Synthesis of Doxorubicin loaded magnetic chitosan nanoparticles for pH responsive targeted drug delivery
ÜNSOY, GÖZDE; Khodadust, Rouhollah; Yalcin, Serap; Mutlu, Pelin; Gündüz, Ufuk (2014-10-01)
Targeted drug delivery is a promising alternative to overcome the limitations of classical chemotherapy. In an ideal targeted drug delivery system carrier nanoparticles would be directed to the tumor tissue and selectively release therapeutic molecules. As a novel approach, chitosan coated magnetic nanoparticles (CS MNPs) maintain a pH dependent drug delivery which provides targeting of drugs to the tumor site under a magnetic field. Among various materials, chitosan has a great importance as a pH sensitive...
Synthesis of peptide-fullerenol conjugate and peptide hydrogels for drug delivery
Demirci, Hande; Özçubukçu, Salih; Department of Biomedical Engineering (2022-1-7)
In past decades, peptides were examined thoroughly and their use for biomedical applications enhanced largely. Peptides can be used in different forms such as selfassembly hydrogels, scaffolds, nanotubes, etc. These forms benefit various applications such as developing drugs, targeted drug delivery, wound dressings, and tissue engineering. Peptide hydrogels are used mostly for these applications that were mentioned previously. In addition, peptides can have antimicrobial properties depending on their sequen...
Synthesis of highly fluorescent N,S co-doped carbon quantum dots and their application in fluorometric detection of g-quadruplex forming HER2 promoter region
BULUT, Zeynep İrem; Persil Çetinkol, Özgül; Department of Chemistry (2022-8)
The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is a member of HER family which are known to be involved in cell development and differentiation. The overexpression of HER2 is linked to aggressive forms of breast cancer. It has been reported that the formation of a stable parallel G-quadruplex (G4) in the HER2 promoter region was playing a role in the regulation of HER2 expression in MCF-7 cells. Consequently, we hypothesized that the detection of HER2 G4 structure could be used in investigating HER2 ex...
Synthesis of ZSM-5 and SAPO-34 membranes in a high temperature-pressure recirculating-flow system
TOPUZ, BERNA; Onder, Aylin; Bowen, Travis C.; Kalıpçılar, Halil (Elsevier BV, 2017-01-01)
MFI and SAPO-34 type zeolite membranes were prepared on tubular alumina supports in a recirculating flow system at elevated temperatures and reported for the first time in the literature. During membrane synthesis, the synthesis mixture flowed between the reservoir and the membrane module, which includes the membrane support. The highest synthesis temperatures were 180 degrees C and 220 degrees C, and the corresponding system pressures were approximately 20 and 30 bar for MFI and SAPO-34, respectively. The ...
