Industrial Ziegler-Type Hydrogenation Catalysts Made from Co(neodecanoate)(2) or Ni(2-ethylhexanoate)(2) and AlEt3: Evidence for Nanoclusters and Sub-Nanocluster or Larger Ziegler-Nanocluster Based Catalysis
Alley, William M.; Hamdemir, Isil K.; Wang, Qi; Frenkel, Anatoly I.; Li, Long; Yang, Judith C.; Menard, Laurent D.; Nuzzo, Ralph G.; Özkar, Saim; Yih, Kuang-Hway; Johnson, Kimberly A.; Finke, Richard G. (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2011-05-17)
Ziegler-type hydrogenation catalysts are important for industrial processes, namely, the large-scale selective hydrogenation of styrenic block copolymers. Ziegler-type hydrogenation catalysts are composed of a group 8-10 transition metal precatalyst plus an alkylaluminum cocatalyst (and they are not the same as Ziegler-Natta polymerization catalysts). However, for similar to 50 years two unsettled issues central to Ziegler-type hydrogenation catalysis are the nature of the metal species present after cataly...
Manufacturing lead time estimation using data mining
Ozturk, Atakan; Kayaligil, Sinan; Özdemirel, Nur Evin (Elsevier BV, 2006-09-01)
We explore use of data mining for lead time estimation in make-to-order manufacturing. The regression tree approach is chosen as the specific data mining method. Training and test data are generated from variations of a job shop simulation model. Starting with a large set of job and shop attributes, a reasonably small subset is selected based on their contribution to estimation performance. Data mining with the selected attributes is compared with linear regression and three other lead time estimation metho...
INDUSTRIAL ENERGY-CONSUMPTION PATTERNS AND POSSIBLE SAVINGS IN TURKEY
TASDEMIROGLU, E (Elsevier BV, 1993-03-01)
Quantitative information on industrial energy consumption patterns in different industrial sectors of Turkiye has been analyzed. The more important energy-conservation opportunities in the heavy energy-consuming industrial activities have been identified. Considerable savings potentials exist through the application of short-term measures involving existing technology. The technological potential for conservation in industrial activities is reviewed.

Operational conditions of activated sludge: Influence on flocculation and dewaterability
Sanin, Faika Dilek; Turtin, Ipek; Kara, Fadime; Durmaz, Burcu; Sesay, Mohamed L. (Informa UK Limited, 2006-01-01)
Selected operational conditions of activated sludge are investigated in relation to their effect on flocculation and dewatering. Semi-continuous reactors with 2 -L volume were operated at different mean cell residence times, C/N ratios, and three different influent cations. Results show that MCRT, C/N ratio, and the cation type affect the bioflocculation capacity of activated sludge measured by the quantity of extracellular polymeric substances. As the MCRT value operated in the reactors and the C/N ratio o...
