Physics-Informed Neural Networks for Mesh Deformation with Exact Boundary Enforcement
Aygün, Atakan; Karakuş, Ali (2023-03-03)
In this work, we have applied physics-informed neural networks (PINN) for solving mesh deformation problems. We used the collocation PINN method to capture the new positions of the vertex nodes while preserving the connectivity information. We use linear elasticity equations for mesh deformation. To prevent vertex collisions or edge overlap, the mesh movement in this work is conducted in steps with relatively small movements. For moving boundary problems, the exact position of the boundary is essential for ...
Geometry knowledge test about triangles: evidence on validity and reliability
Ubuz, Behiye (2018-08-01)
In the present study we aimed to develop a multidimensional test assessing high school students' knowledge about triangles, and then to determine the validity evidence for it based on the internal structure and relations to another variable and its reliability. The test developed was administered to 557 tenth grade students. To assess the validity evidence based on the internal structure, the data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, inter-dimension correlations and two-way MANOVA across gender...
MERCURY SPECIATION BY ELECTROCHEMICAL SEPARATION AND COLD-VAPOR ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY
ERGUCYENER, C; AYGUN, S; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; TEMIZER, A (1988-01-01)
Mercury speciation in aqueous solutions containing inorganic mercury and methylmercury has been demonstrated using electrochemical separation prior to determination by cold-vapour atomic absorption spectrometry. Approximately 95% of the inorganic mercury was electro-deposited on a Pt electrode at –0.1 V, whereas for methylmercury –0.2 V or even more negative potentials were required. Organic mercury was determined by NaBH4 reduction after electrochemical separation. Inorganic mercury was determined in the o...
Physics teachers' beliefs related to Turkish high school physics curriculum: a multiple case study
Kapucu, Serkan; Erbaş, Ayhan Kürşat; Yıldırım, Ufuk; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2012)
The purpose of this study was to investigate four in-service physics teachers’ beliefs related to Turkish High School Physics Curriculum (THSPC) and to what extent these beliefs are reflected in their instructional practices. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations and an open-ended questionnaire. Teachers’ responses to interview questions showed that they believed that teaching physics according to the THSPC helped students use their skills, become interested in physics lessons, rela...
