Chemical composition of atmospheric particles in the aegean region
Munzur, Başak; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal; Department of Environmental Engineering (2008)
Daily aerosol samples were collected at the Çandarlı which is located on Aegean coast of Turkey. A rural site was selected to monitor atmospheric pollution by long range transport. Sampling was performed in both summer and winter seasons, and in total 151 samples were obtained. Concentrations of elements in the samples were measured in order to identify sources and possible source locations of pollutants. Measured concentrations of trace elements at the Çandarlı station were compared with those measured at ...
Chemical composition of atmosheric aerosol at the western Black Sea atmosphere
Genç, Deniz; Balcılar, İlker; Doğan, Güray; İlhan, Ali İhsan; Balta, Tülay; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal (null; 2016-09-03)
Chemical composition of Eastern Black Sea aerosol-Preliminary results
BALCILAR, İLKER; Zararsız, Abdullah; Kalaycı, Yusuf; DOĞAN, GÜRAY; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal (2014-08-01)
Trace element composition of atmospheric particles collected at a high altitude site on the Eastern Black Sea coast of Turkey was investigated to understand atmospheric transport of pollutants to this semi-closed basin. Aerosol samples were collected at a timber-storage area, which is operated by the General Directorate of Forestry. The site is situated at a rural area and is approximately 50 km to the Black Sea coast and 200 km to the Georgia border of Turkey. Coarse (PM2.5-10) and fine (PM2.5) aerosol sam...
Chemical composition of atmospheric particles as a tool to identify sources affecting aerosol population in the Eastern Black sea atmosphere
Balcılar, İlker; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal; Department of Environmental Engineering (2018)
Daily size distributed particulate matter samples were collected at a rural station on Eastern Black Sea region between March 2011 and December 2013. Particulate matter samples were analyzed for trace elements by ICP-MS and ED-XRF and for black carbon by Aethalometer. Mean concentrations of trace elements in the fine fraction varied between 0.0011 ng m-3 for Tm and 1382.42 ng m-3 for SO42-, while mean concentrations in the coarse fraction varied between 0.0017 ng m-3 for Tm and 1441.5 ng m-3 for Si. The dom...
Chemical Composition of Submicrometer Particulate Matter (PM1) Emitted from Combustion of Coals of Various Ranks in O-2/N-2 and O-2/CO2 Environments
Kazanç Özerinç, Feyza; Maffei, Tiziano (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2013-08-01)
A laboratory-scale investigation has been conducted on the physical and chemical characteristics of particulate matter emissions (ashes) from pulverized coals burning in the air or in simulated oxy-fuel environments. Oxy-fuel combustion is a process that takes place in O-2/CO2 gases, using an air separation unit (ASU) to supply the oxygen and a flue-gas recirculation (FGR) stream to supply the carbon dioxide to the boiler. In order to investigate the effects of the background gas on the particulate matter g...
