Marching distance functions for smooth control of hyperbolic grids
Durmus, G; Kavsaoglu, MS (2000-10-01)
The smooth control of hyperbolic grids is achieved by using marching distance functions. The marching distance can be expressed as a function of grid control. The derivative expressions of the linearized hyperbolic equations are approximated by second order central differences.
Vibrations of open-section channels: A coupled flexural and torsional wave analysis
Yaman, Yavuz (Elsevier BV, 1997-07-03)
An exact analytical method is presented for the analysis of forced vibrations of uniform, open-section channels. The centroid and the shear center of the channel cross-sections considered do not coincide; hence the flexural and the torsional vibrations are coupled. In the context of this study, the type of any existing coupling is defined in terms of the independent motions which are coupled through mass and/or stiffness terms. Hence, if the flexural vibrations in one direction are coupled with the torsiona...
Ripping through a storified place: an exercise in critical breaking
Kravets, Olga; Karababa, Eminegül (2023-01-01)
This paper is an exercise in critical breaking. We take the promotional material for a newly ‘rejuvenated’ area in Ankara, Turkey, and tear out images and text. This is not to re-assemble a critical story of the urban development project; instead, we seek to mirror the process of its marketing. We explore the dynamic shifting and splintered nationhood constructed and marketed in this tourist site. This project is distinct in embracing its fragmented-ness into what/if space, embodying divergent historical tr...
Spinning Spacecraft Attitude Filtering with Spin Parameters: Performance Evaluation with Real Data
Söken, Halil Ersin; Van Der Ha, Jozef C. (null; 2017-06-07)
Three-axis attitude estimation for spinning spacecraft is recently of considerable practical interest. In this scope, sequential filtering algorithms are also being studied recently. In this study, we extend our recent research for a nonlinear filtering algorithm for spinning spacecraft attitude estimation. In the filter the attitude of the spacecraft is represented using a set of spin parameters. These parameters consist of the spin-axis orientation unit vector in the inertial frame and the spin phase angl...
