Pippard Relation Close to the Alpha - Beta Transition for Quartz in Granite
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Gumus, Aysegul (2015-08-27)
In this study, we examine variation of the thermal expansion alpha(p) with the isothermal compressibility k(T) at various temperatures (1 atm) close to the alpha-beta transition in quartz using the experimental data from the literature. We obtain the pressure dependence of the thermal expansion for dry granite quartz at room temperature. Variation of alpha(p) with the kappa(T) is also studied as a function of temperature for constant pressures of 0.1, 100, 200 and 300 MPa close to the alpha-beta transition ...
Pippard relation modified for the rotatory lattice mode in ammonia solid II
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2005-01-01)
In this study we obtain a linear variation of the specific heat Cp with the Raman frequency shifts 1/v (partial derivative v/partial derivative T)p for the rotatory lattice (librational) mode in the ammonia solid II near the melting point. From this linearity, we deduce values of the slope dP(m)/dT for the pressures of 3.65, 5.02 and 6.57 kbars in the ammonia solid II. Our calculated value of dP(m)/dT for the pressure of 3.65 kbar, is in good agreement with the experimentally measured value in the P-T phase...
Pippard relations applied to the lambda-phase transition in NH4Br
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Sen, S. (2008-11-01)
We establish here a linear variation of the specific heat C-p with the frequency shifts (l/v)(partial derivative v/partial derivative T)(p) close to the X-phase transition in NH4Br (T-lambda=234 K). This linear relationship is based on our spectroscopically modified Pippard relations. For this verification of our relations, we use our observed Raman frequencies of the lattice mode of v(7) (56 cm(-1)) and the internal mode of v(2) (1684 cm(-1)) in the NH4Br crystalline system. Our study given here indicates ...
Pippard relations close to the melting point in the premelting region of hexadecane
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; KURT, MUSTAFA (2012-12-26)
We examine here the validity of the Pippard relations close to the melting point in the premelting region of hexadecane. For this verification, we analyze the observed data for the thermal expansivity obtained for various pressures at constant temperatures of 302 and 325 K in this system. By calculating the isothermal compressibility and the specific heat in the same pressure region of the premelting region of hexadecane, we obtain that varies linearly with and also that varies linearly with for this system...
Pippard relations for the solid phase of carbon tetrachloride close to the melting point
Kavruk, D. Kaya; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2007-01-01)
We study here the Pippard relations as linear relations between the specific heat C-p and the thermal expansivity alpha(p), also between alpha(p) and the isothermal compressibility kappa(T) for the solid phase of carbon tetrachloride close to the melting point.
