Contributions of natural sources to high PM10 and PM2.5 events in the eastern Mediterranean
Koçak, Mustafa; Kubilay, Nilgun (2007-06-01)
In total 562 daily PM10 and PM2.5 samples were collected from April 2001 to April 2002 at a rural site (Erdemli) located on the coast of the Eastern Mediterranean. The annual mean PM10 and PM2.5 levels were 36.4 +/- 27.8 and 9.7 +/- 5.9 mu g m(-3), respectively. PM10 and PW2.5 concentrations indicated orders of magnitude change from day to day (PM10 = 2-326 mu g m(-3); PM2.5 = 0.5-28 mu g m(-3)). The highest levels of PM10 were observed during the transition period (March, April and May) due to mineral dust...
Contribution of subaqueous paleoseismology to paleoseismic datasets: Examples from the Euro-Mediterranean Region
Avşar, Ulaş (2014-03-28)
Besides on-fault paleoseismic trenching techniques, subaqueous paleoseismology have been getting popular in the recent years to contribute paleoseismic data sets. In the regions having high-seismic activity and on-fault paleoseismic trenching is not applicable (e.g., blind reverse/trust faults and offshore faults), subaqueous paleoseismology becomes highly crucial. In moderate-seismicity regions, even though the earthquakes of M∼6 can cause significant damages and loss of life, they usually generate non-dis...
Contribution of the satellite-data driven snow routine to a karst hydrological model
Çallı, Süleyman Özdemir; Çallı, Kübra Özdemir; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tuğrul; ÇELİK, MEHMET (2022-04-01)
Snow recharge is an important dominant hydrological process in the high altitude mountainous karstic aquifer systems. In general, widely used karst-dedicated hydrological models (e.g., KarstMod, Varkarst) do not include a snow routine in the model structure to avoid increasing the number of model parameters while representing the complex hydrological process. As a result, recharge process is not represented well, which questions the optimality of the results that can be obtained under available datasets. Th...
Contribution of the resampling stage to the execution time of particle filter Yeniden örnekleme adiminin parçacik süzgecinin çalişma zamanina katkisi
Dulger, Ozcan; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S. (2019-04-01)
© 2019 IEEE.Particle filter is a serial Monte Carlo estimation algorithm. It represents the posterior probability density function with particles and their weights. As time progresses, the normalized weight of one of particles becomes nearly one, while the normalized weights of the remaining ones get close to zero. A common way to solve this problem, known as the degeneracy problem, is resampling. In resampling, the particles with larger weights are replicated, and the particles with smaller weights are eli...
Contribution of thermal analysis and kinetics of Siberian and Tatarstan regions crude oils for in situ combustion process
Varfolomeev, Mikhail A.; Nagrimanov, Ruslan N.; Galukhin, Andrey V.; Vakhin, Alexey V.; Solomonov, Boris N.; Nurgaliev, Danis K.; Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2015-12-01)
This research focused on the characterization and kinetics of Siberian and Tatarstan crude oils by gas chromatography, combustion calorimetry, and thermogravimetry (TG-DTG) techniques. Calorimetric experiments show that crude oil with higher saturate content and low resin fraction has higher heating value. TG-DTG curves indicates that the crude oils undergoes two major transitions when subjected to an oxidizing and constant rate environment known as low- and high-temperature oxidations at each heating rate ...
