Temperature distribution in power transformers
Karadağ, Rukiye; Ertaş, Arif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
As in all other electrical equipments it is essential to estimate the temperature distribution in transformer components in the design stage and during the operation since temperatures above thermal limits of these components might seriously damage them. Thermal models are used to predict this vital information prior to actual operations. In this study, a three dimensional model based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) is proposed to estimate the temperature distribution in the three phase, SF6 gas insulate...

Temperature compensation of a capacitive mems accelerometer by using a mems oscillator
Kose, Talha; Azgın, Kıvanç; Akın, Tayfun (2016-02-25)
This study reports a temperature compensation method for a capacitive MEMS accelerometer by using a MEMS double-ended-tuning-fork (DETF) resonator integrated with the accelerometer structure on the same die. The proposed method utilizes the frequency information of the clamped-clamped DETF resonator which is oscillating in a closed-loop operation. In order to compensate the temperature dependence of the accelerometer output, frequency drift of the DETF resonator against changing temperature is used, i. e., ...
Temperature effects on surface plasmon resonance: Design considerations for an optical temperature sensor
Ozdemir, SK; Sayan, Gönül (2003-03-01)
We present a detailed discussion of the three-interface surface plasmon resonance (SPR) geometry with the "angular interrogation" approach, and study the effect of thermal changes on the SPR curve through numerical simulations. An optical temperature sensor based on SPR, which has been shown to be a promising method to be used in the development of chemical, physical, and biomedical sensors, is proposed. The temperature sensor employs a three-interface SPR geometry where the layer making the interface with ...
Temperature-Dependent Emission Kinetics of Colloidal Semiconductor Nanoplatelets Strongly Modified by Stacking
Erdem, Onur; Olutas, Murat; Guzelturk, Burak; Keleştemur, Yusuf; Demir, Hilmi Volkan (2016-02-01)
We systematically studied temperature-dependent emission kinetics in solid films of solution-processed CdSe nanoplatelets (NPLs) that are either intentionally stacked or nonstacked. We observed that the steady-state photoluminescence (PL) intensity of nonstacked NPLs considerably increases with decreasing temperature, whereas there is only a slight increase in stacked NPLs. Furthermore, PL decay time of the stacked NPL ensemble is comparatively much shorter than that of the nonstacked NPLs, and this result ...
