Diversity and Novelty in Web Search, Recommender Systems and Data Streams
Santos, Rodrygo L. T.; Castells, Pablo; Altıngövde, İsmail Sengör; Can, Fazli (2014-01-01)
This tutorial aims to provide a unifying account of current research on diversity and novelty in the domains of web search, recommender systems, and data stream processing.
Diversity and novelty in information retrieval
Santos, Rodrygo L.T.; Castells, Pablo; Altıngövde, İsmail Sengör; Can, Fazli (2013-09-02)
This tutorial aims to provide a unifying account of current research on diversity and novelty in different IR domains, namely, in the context of search engines, recommender systems, and data streams.
Diversity performance of microstrip patch antennas placed on human body at ISM and MBAN frequencies
Ozturk, Mehmet Ali; Tamer, Ufuk; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür; Ozdemir, Tayfun; KAYA, İSMAİL (2017-03-18)
In this study, the diversity performance of microstrip patch antennas mounted on the chest and the back of a person is investigated in static and dynamic indoor environments at ISM (2.4-2.5 GHz) and medical body area network (2.36-2.4 GHz) bands. Power received by the radios worn by the person while standing and walking is recorded and compared. In addition, antennas are simulated on a human body to study the effect of the human body. The work was done as part of a remote patient monitoring project, and hen...
Diversity and Novelty on the Web: Search, Recommendation, and Data Streaming Aspects
Santos, Rodrygo L. T.; Castells, Pablo; Altıngövde, İsmail Sengör; CAN, FAZLI (2015-05-22)
This tutorial aims to provide a unifying account of current research on diversity and novelty in different web information systems. In particular, the tutorial will cover the motivations, as well as the most established approaches for producing and evaluating diverse results in search engines, recommender systems, and data streams, all within the context of the World Wide Web. By contrasting the state-of-the-art in these multiple domains, this tutorial aims to derive a common understanding of the diversific...
Diversity in relaying protocols with amplify and forward
Yüksel Turgut, Ayşe Melda; Erkip, E (2003-01-01)
We examine a network consisting of one source, one destination and two amplifying and forwarding relays and consider a scenario in which destination and relays can have various processing limitations. For all possible diversity combining schemes at the relays and at the destination, we find diversity order results analytically and confirm our findings through numerical calculations of bit error rate (BER) versus signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) curves. We compare our results with direct transmission, well known ...
