Assessment of genetic variation of bread wheat varieties using microsatellite markers
Akkaya, Mahinur; Buyukunal-Bal, EB (2004-01-01)
The DNA fingerprinting profiles of 11 bread wheat cultivars, grown in Turkey, was obtained by using 19 highly polymorphic wheat microsatellites. Up to six randomly selected individuals from each of these cultivars were subjected to analysis. Estimated polymorphism information content (PIC) values among 65 individual genotypes for 19 loci were between 0.36 and 0.87 with an average value of 0.68. The numbers of observed alleles were between 2 and 9, with an average value of 5.42. These relationships were asse...
Assessment of atmospheric conditions over the Hong Thai Binh river watershed by means of dynamically downscaled ERA-20C reanalysis data
Ho, C.; Nguyen, A.; Ercan, Ali; Kawas, M. L.; Nguyen, V; Nguyen, T. (2020-06-01)
Long-term, high spatial and temporal resolution of atmospheric data is crucial for the purpose of reducing the effects of hydro-meteorological risks on human society in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner. However, such information usually is limited in transboundary regions due to different governmental policies, and to conflicts in the sharing of data. In this study, high spatial and temporal resolution atmospheric data were reconstructed by means of the Weather Research and Forecasting...
Assessment of seismic fragility curves for low- and mid-rise reinforced concrete frame buildings using Duzce field database
Erberik, Murat Altuğ (2005-06-01)
This paper focuses on the generation of fragility curves for low-rise and mid-rise reinforced concrete frame buildings, which constitute approximately 75% of the total building stock in Turkey and which are generally occupied for residential purposes. These buildings, which suffered extensive damage after recent earthquakes, are not designed according to the current code regulations and the supervision in the construction phase is not adequate. Hence the buildings possess many deficiencies like irregulariti...
Assessment of genetic relationships in durum wheat cultivars using AFLP markers
Incirli, A; Akkaya, Mahinur (2001-06-01)
The genetic relationships were assessed for the first time in Turkish durum wheat cultivars using AFLP markers. In the analysis, 18 AFLP primer combinations resulted in a total of 189 polymorphic loci. All of the selective primers used are Eco and Mse primers with three nucleotide extentions on the 3' ends. The number of polymorphic markers per primer combination ranged from 4 to 24. The relationships, among nine winter and six spring type durum wheat cultivars, obtained with various algorithms are in accor...
Assessment of porosity-permeability variation on the response of sandy soils via hypoplasticity model
Bayraktaroğlu, Hilmi.; Huvaj Sarıhan, Nejan; Department of Civil Engineering (2019)
Hydro-mechanical characteristic of the saturated sands is highly influenced by their porosity and permeability. During loading, unloading and reloading compaction of sands, loosening and re-compaction take place, which leads to changes in pore volume and permeability. In order to accurately simulate these real-life conditions, new variables and phenomena should be investigated using sophisticated numerical tools and equipment. In this study, the behavior of water saturated sands subjected to cyclic and dyna...
