Comparison of mean site-specific response spectra in Turkey with the design spectra of AASHTO
Mestav Sarıca, Gizem; Askan Gündoğan, Ayşegül; Department of Civil Engineering (2014)
Seismic design of bridges is a significant problem for all seismically-active countries including Turkey which has gone through recent destructive earthquakes. Bridges are important elements of transportation and their robustness is important in the aftermath of major earthquakes. Turkish engineers currently employ a modified version of AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) LFD Design Specifications for bridge design. Within the scope of a national project (TÜBİTAK 110G...
Comparison of Rock Mass deformabilities Determined by Using Large Flat Jack Technique and Plate Jacking Tests at Two Dam Sites
Karpuz, Celal (1987-08-30)
This paper gives the results of the several large flat jack (LFJ) and plate jacking tests carried out at two dam sites to determine the rock mass deformability. The moduli of deformability and elasticity obtained with these methods are compared, and the difficulties associated with the application of LFJ technique in hard rock masses are touched on.
Comparison of approximate solution used in Turkish practice with the exact method solutions on rigid frame analysis.

Comparison of 2002 and 2004 elementary science curricula with respect to cognitive and affective characteristics of students
Oruç, Akif; Berberoğlu, Halil Giray; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2009)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of 2004 elementary science and technology curricula at grade level 7. For this purpose, the effect of 2004 curricula on the (1) achievement of the students in knowledge, conceptual understanding and higher order thinking skills clusters, (2) attitude toward science and technology, (3) teachers’ classroom activities were evaluated. This study was conducted on 290 7th grade students at six elementary schools in 2006-2007 spring term. These schools were lo...
