Bulk amorphous steel as a coating material: hardfacing application
Çakmak, Hafize; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Mekhrabov, Amdulla O.; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2018)
In the industrial applications, surface modification/treatment techniques give preference to reach the better service life for components which encounter the problem of wear. In practice, worn components either have to be rejected or rebuilt by employing various surface treatment applications which actually do not only improve the wear resistant of the surface, but also it helps preserve against corrosion and oxidation problems at higher temperature. Among these industrial coating & surface treatment applic...

Plasma-activated direct bonding of patterned silicon-on-insulator wafers to diamond-coated wafers under vacuum
Can, Uryan Isik; Bayram, Barış (2014-08-01)
Direct wafer bonding requires the surfaces to have low surface roughness (R-a < 0.5 nm) as well as to be free of any particles or contaminants. Meeting these requirements for wafers patterned with lithography and dry etching presents a serious problem in terms of removal of photoresist residue and etch-related particles, which would require expensive additional equipment to be removed. In this study, we propose the use of chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) to be performed after all lithography and dry etch...
Flexible organic photovoltaics from zinc oxide nanowires grown on transparent and conducting single walled carbon nanotube thin films
Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Kuo, Daniel; Parekh, Bhavin; Amaratunga, Gehan; Chhowalla, Manish (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2008-01-01)
The fabrication of flexible organic photovoltaics (OPVs) which utilize transparent and conducting single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) thin films as current collecting electrodes on plastic substrates in zinc oxide nanowire (ZnO NW)/poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) bulk heterojunction photovoltaic devices is reported. The bulk heterojunctions for exciton dissociation are created by directly growing ZnO nanowires from solution on the SWNT electrodes and spin coating the P3HT polymer. A maximum OPV power convers...
