A MECHANISTIC STUDY ON THE STEREOREGULAR POLYMERIZATION OF PROPYLENE-OXIDE BY THE PRUITT-BAGGETT CATALYST
TAKROURI, F; ALYURUK, K (Elsevier BV, 1994-01-01)
The structures of the Pruitt-Baggett adduct (PBA) and the Pruitt-Baggett catalyst (PBC) were studied in some detail. PBC extensively ionizes in acetonitrile (K(d)=3.48 x 10(-3) mol l-1 at 25-degrees-C) producing an anionic fragment composed of seven Fe atoms and a cationic fragment with two Fe atoms. Hittorf electrolysis showed that the anionic fragments exclusively bore the high molecular weight stereoregular poly(propylene oxide)s (K-polymers). However, study of the polymerization in the presence of anion...
A study of selected low-mass X-ray binary dip sources observed with INTEGRAL
Balman, Şölen (2007-08-17)
I present archival data of the dipping LMXB systems, XB 1916-053, XB 1323-619, X1624-490, and 4U 1746-371obtained by the ISGRI and JEM-X detectors on-board the INTEGRAL Observatory. The spectral parameters derived from the fits to the data are consistent with hot coronal regions in these systems where the electron temperatures are in a range 4.9-18.8 keV with the exception of XB 1323-62 having an unbounded temperature. The optical depth to Compton scattering, tau is low and consistent with electron densitie...
A numerical study on magneto-hydrodynamic mixed convection flow
Bozkaya, Canan (2014-01-01)
This paper, describes a study conducted to numerically investigate the two-dimensional, steady, laminar, magneto-hydrodynamic mixed convection flow and heat transfer characteristics in a lid-driven enclosure beneath an externally applied magnetic field. A solid square block is placed inside the cavity. The governing equations in the form of a stream function-vorticity-temperature formulation are solved numerically using the dual reciprocity boundary element method with constant elements. Treatment of nonlin...
A MECHANISTIC STUDY ON THE POLYMERIZATION OF N-BUTYL ISOCYANATE BY PRUITT-BAGGETT ADDUCT
YILMAZ, O; Usanmaz, Ali; ALYURUK, K (Elsevier BV, 1992-11-01)
The mechanism of the polymerization of n-butyl isocyanate by the Pruitt-Baggett adduct (PBA) was studied; on the basis of the experimental evidences, a coordinated mechanism was proposed and verified. This mechanism considers a monatomic active site, which is the Fe atom of PBA with Lewis acid character. The N atom of the isocyanate monomer is coordinated by the Fe atom and the resultant positive charge is transmitted to another N atom which covalently binds the growing chain to the active centre. Thus the ...
A study of the material in the ATLAS inner detector using secondary hadronic interactions
Aad, G.; et. al. (IOP Publishing, 2012-01-01)
The ATLAS inner detector is used to reconstruct secondary vertices due to hadronic interactions of primary collision products, so probing the location and amount of material in the inner region of ATLAS. Data collected in 7 TeV pp collisions at the LHC, with a minimum bias trigger, are used for comparisons with simulated events. The reconstructed secondary vertices have spatial resolutions ranging from similar to 200 mu m to 1 mm. The overall material description in the simulation is validated to within an ...
