This study examines the effects of father’s death on child’s educational life in Turkey and attempts to reveal whether or not death faced in school age time is more detrimental than death faced in pre-school ages by using the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS, 2013). The results show that for boys, father’s death can decrease the 8th grade completion rate by 5.5 percentage points. The ratio increases to 28 percentage points for the 12th grade completion rate.
