Valueofqualityinformationofreturnsinproductre- covery managementZ. Pelin Bayindir, Department of Industrial Engineering, Middle East Technical University, Middle East Technical University, Department of Industrial Engineering, 06531, Ankara, Turkey, bayindir@ie.metu.edu.tr,Altan AtabarutWe consider a recovery system where end-of-life products are con- verted to a number of different recovered products. Recovery op- tions for a return depend on its level of quality, i.e., grade. The main objective of the study is to investigate the benefits of quality grade information on the profitability of recovery business. Linear programming models for alternative testing strategies under differ- ent information schemes are built for a generic multistage recovery system in a multi-period setting. An extensive computational study is carried out to quantify the value of quality information.

Self-Organization of PEDOT:PSS Induced by Green and Water-Soluble Organic Molecules
Yıldırım, Erol; Wu, Gang; Tan, Teck Leong; Xu, Jianwei; Yang, Shuo-Wang (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2019-04-18)
Water-soluble poly(3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is the most prominent commercial polymer used in photovoltaic cells and thermoelectric devices. Experimental studies in the last decade have shown that it is possible to enhance the low electrical conductivity of PEDOT:PSS by solvent treatment, either in-solution or by post-treatment methods. The origin and mechanism of electrical conductivity improvement varied according to different experimental studies. We had recently sho...

Verbascum eskisehirensis sp nov (Scrophulariaceae) from central Anatolia, Turkey
Karaveliogullari, Faik Ahmet; Ocak, Atilla; EKİCİ, MURAT; Cabi, Evren (Wiley, 2009-01-01)
Verbascum eskisehirensis Karavel., Ocak & Ekici sp. nov. (sect. Bothrosperma Murb.) is described and illustrated from Turkey. This new species is confined to B3 Eskisehir in central Anatolia. A morphological comparison is made with the closely related species; V. oreophilum K. Koch and V. pyramidatum M. Bieb. In addition, a cluster analysis was conducted and a distribution map of the new species and the related species is also given.
Effects of High Hydrostatic Pressure Treatment on Water Absorption Properties of Bovine and Fish Gelatin
Gültekin, Necmiye Büşra; Alpas, Hami; Öztop, Halil Mecit (null; 2017-06-28)
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of High Hydrostatic Pressure (HHP) treatment on physical properties of bovine (220, 240 and 250 bloom) and fish (240 bloom) gelatins. HHP treatment parameters were chosen as 1,000; 3,000; 5,000 bar at 40°C for 5 min. To obtain information about water absorption and gelation behavior of the treated gelatins, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) relaxometry experiments through transverse relaxation time (T2) measurements were conducted. The change...
Covalent immobilization of alpha-amylase onto poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and poly(styrene-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) microspheres and the effect of Ca2+ ions on the enzyme activity
Tumturk, H; Aksoy, S; Hasırcı, Nesrin (2000-02-01)
alpha-Amylase (1,4-alpha-D-glucan-glucanohydrolase; EC 3.2.1.1, Type VI-B from porcine pancreas, extra pure 29 units mg(-1)) was covalently immobilized on poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), p(HEMA), and poly (styrene-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), p(St-HEMA) microspheres, which were activated by using epichlorohydrin (ECH). The properties of the immobilized enzyme were investigated and compared with those of the free enzyme. For the assays carried out at 25 degrees C and pH 6.9, the relative activities were...
