A Comparative evaluation of foreground / background segmentation algorithms
Pakyürek, Muhammet; Akar, Gözde; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
Foreground Background segmentation is a process which separates the stationary objects from the moving objects on the scene. It plays significant role in computer vision applications. In this study, several background foreground segmentation algorithms are analyzed by changing their critical parameters individually to see the sensitivity of the algorithms to some difficulties in background segmentation applications. These difficulties are illumination level, view angles of camera, noise level, and range of ...
A quantitative analysis of cost-push shocks and optimal inflation volatility
Senay, Ozge; Sutherland, Alan (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
This article presents a quantitative analysis of optimal inflation volatility in a simple sticky-price general equilibrium model subject to both supply and cost-push shocks. It is found that optimal policy implies a relatively small degree of inflation volatility even when cost-push shocks are the dominant source of economic disturbance. In addition, it is found that optimal policy generates only a very small welfare gain when compared to strict inflation targeting.
A comparative study on ILP-based concept discovery systems
Kavurucu, Yusuf; Karagöz, Pınar; Toroslu, İsmail Hakkı (2011-09-01)
Inductive Logic Programming (ILP) studies learning from examples, within the framework provided by clausal logic. ILP has become a popular subject in the field of data mining due to its ability to discover patterns in relational domains. Several ILP-based concept discovery systems are developed which employs various search strategies, heuristics and language pattern limitations. LINUS, GOLEM, CIGOL, MIS, FOIL, PROGOL, ALEPH and WARMR are well-known ILP-based systems. In this work, firstly introductory infor...

A Comparative Evaluation of Two Computer SupportedCollaborative Work Systems for Supporting Collaborative BusinessProcess Modeling Activities
Fındık Coşkunçay, Duygu; Çakır, Murat Perit (2018-10-01)
In this study, a comparative evaluation of different Computer-Supported Collaborative Work CSCW environments was conducted to reveal their constraints and affordances for supporting synchronous collaborative business process modeling cBPM activities online. For this purpose, two case studies were carried out with two CSCW systems that differ in terms of their interaction design features for supporting joint work. The dual-eye tracking method was employed to monitor how the participants focused their attenti...
