Design and Analysis of a Cylindrical Array of Stripline Fed Slot Antennas For On-Board Telemetry Applications
Ozcan, Mustafa; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (2016-07-01)
In this study, cylindrical array of stripline fed rounded bow-tie slot antennas is designed to be used for avionics applications. The array element is fed by a T shaped strip line. Shape of the slot is modified from rectangular to rounded bow-tie to provide sufficient bandwidth for telemetry application. Furthermore, vias are placed around slots to prevent unwanted parallel plate modes of stripline structure. It is observed that, location of vias is critical in the design of the antenna. Thus, parametric st...

Design and simulation of a vapor compression refrigeration cycle for a micro refrigerator
Yıldız, Seyfettin; Okutucu Özyurt, Hanife Tuba; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2010)
Cooling of electronic equipments has become an important issue as the advances in technology enabled the fabrication of very small devices. The main challenge in cooling is the space limitation. The use of miniature refrigerators seems to be a solution alternative for the cooling problem. The objective of this study is to design and simulate a vapor compression refrigeration cycle for a micro-scale refrigerator. A MATLAB code is developed for the simulations. The four components of the refrigerator, namely,...
Design and modeling of a novel rectifier with ceramic hollow fiber membrane contactor for miniaturized absorption cooling devices
Özkan, Onur; Güvenç Yazıcıoğlu, Almıla; Baker, Derek Keıth; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2015)
Miniaturized and mobile absorption cooling devices may be used in many applications, but effective and small size heat and mass exchangers are required. Ceramic hollow fiber membranes are thermally stable so that they can be used for the rectification of ammonia in an absorption cooling device. In this study the simultaneous heat and mass transfer between the ammonia-water vapor and the reflux liquid is modeled in a rectifier and stripper with hydrophobic ceramic hollow fiber membranes. A similar model is u...
