The design of discrete coefficient FIR filters with arbitrary magnitude and phase specifictions and whose coefficients are expressed as the signed combination of a few power-of-terms (SPT) is considered. The total number of SPT terms is fixed and their distribution among the coefficients is not restricted. The proposed method is an improved version of those originally proposed for the design of linear phase filters [9], [10].

Normalized peak rippple magnitude as an objective function in discrete coefficient fir filter design
Çiloğlu, Tolga (2001-08-17)
Normalized peak ripple magnitude (NPRM) has been a convenient design criterion for discrete coefficient FIR filters. "Filter gain" is the major concern for NPRM. This paper presents an exact closed form expression of the filter gain for a given set of filter coefficients. Based on this expression the characteristics of NPRM cost function are discussed. The selection of the initial value of the filter gain for suboptimal design methods is considered. Deficiency of the previously proposed methods is pointed o...
Analysis of root displacement interpolation method for tunable allpass fractional-delay filters
Hacıhabiboğlu, Hüseyin; Günel Kılıç, Banu (2007-10-01)
One of the simplest ways of designing allpass fractional-delay filters with maximally fiat group delays is by using the Thiran approximation by which the filter coefficients are calculated using a closed-form equation. However, due to the number of multiplications and divisions involved, the calculation of these coefficients is a computationally costly task and is not suitable for real-time applications. The analysis of a root-displacement-based interpolation method used in allpass tunable fractional delays...
Efficient computation of the Green's function for multilayer structures with periodic dielectric gratings
Adanır, Süleyman; Alatan, Lale; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
Numerical analysis of periodic structures in layered media is usually accomplished by using Method of Moments which requires the formation of the impedance matrix of the structure. The construction of this impedance matrix requires the evaluation of the periodic Green’s function in layered media which is expressed as an infinite series in terms of the spectral domain Green’s function. The slow converging nature of this series make these kinds of analysis computationally expensive. Although some papers have ...
Exact Pseudospin Symmetric Solution of the Dirac Equation for Pseudoharmonic Potential in the Presence of Tensor Potential
AYDOĞDU, OKTAY; Sever, Ramazan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2010-04-01)
Under the pseudospin symmetry, we obtain exact solution of the Dirac equation for the pseudoharmonic potential in the presence of the tensor potential with arbitrary spin-orbit coupling quantum number kappa. The energy eigenvalue equation of the Dirac particles is found and the corresponding radial wave functions are presented in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions. We investigate the tensor potential dependence of the energy of the each state in the pseudospin doublet. It is shown that degeneracy b...
Isovector response of nuclear matter at finite temperature
Ayik, S.; BOZKURT, Kutsal; Gokalp, A.; Yılmaz Tüzün, Özgül (2008-06-01)
The dipole response function of nuclear matter at zero and finite temperatures is investigated in an extended RPA approach by including collisional damping mechanism and coherent damping due to particle-phonon coupling. Calculations are carried out for nuclear dipole vibrations by employing the Steinwedel-Jensen model and compared with experimental results for Sn-120 and Pb-208.
