The presence of the dinoflagellate Heterocapsa pygmaea A.R.Loebl. in bloom quantity is reported for the first time from Mersin Bay (northern Levantine basin, eastern Mediterranean). Further, it is the only species of the family Heterocapsaceae reported from Turkish seas (southern Black Sea, the Sea of Marmara, Aegean Sea, and north-eastern Mediterranean). Our observations on the fine structure of the body scale of the specimen suggested that the scale morphology is identical to that of H. pygmaea.

Characterization and modulation by drugs and other effectors of bovine liver microsomal flavin monoxygenase(fmo)
Başer, Deniz Fulya; Adalı, Orhan; Department of Biochemistry (2004)
The flavin-containing monooxygenases (FMO; E.C.1.14.13.8) are microsomal NADPH and oxygen-dependent flavoprotein enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of a wide variety of xenobiotics, including drugs and environmental toxicants. Nucleophiles containing nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus and selenium heteroatoms are the substrates of FMO. Bovine liver microsomal FMO enzyme activity was characterized using methimazole as substrate, which is a highly specific substrate for FMO. From 12 different bovine liver samples,...
Determination of narcotic and psychotropic substances by using infrared spectroscopy
Baran, Özlem; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; Department of Chemistry (2005)
Synthesis of a dipyrromethane functionalized monomer and optoelectrochromic properties of its polymer
Ak, Metin; Gancheva, Valeria; Terlemezyan, Levon; Tanyeli, Ghangir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2008-08-01)
A dipyrromethane functionalized monomer; 5-(4-tert-butylphenyl)dipyrromethane (BPDP) was synthesized. The structure of the monomer was characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopies. Electrochemical polymerization of BPDP was performed in acetonitrile (AN)/LiClO4. The resulting conducting polymer was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and electrical conductivity measurements. Spectroelectrochemical behavior and switching ability of P(B...
